Suzuki Swift - any good? 23 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Checked HJ's car-by-car section, again seems alright. The car would be used for a 30 mile round trip to work each day, mainly on country roads, and local running around during the weekend. Does anyone have any opinions on this car, preferably from ownership/ friends' experience etc. -
Honda CR-V 2015 AWD 2.0 - Honda CR-V Oil Light 26 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Hi All, We bought a Honda CR-V back in Feb 2018 from Honda dealer, since the first service every year in June after approx 1500 mile the oil light has come on and we have had to have it topped up. Is this normal? The car is now out of its warranty and although I am not suggesting the dealer is conning us they have just drawn our attention to a small oil leak on the engine -
Toyota Auris HSD - missed service -- problems ahead? 1 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Hello there, My first post here although I've been reading the forums for quite some time. I'm interested in a used Auris Hybrid. The car I'm looking at has some manufacturer's warranty still on but it's a high-mileage specimen and has missed one service. It has nearly 56,000 miles on the clock but has only had 4 services (it's missed the latest one). -

Golf MK2 GTI Heater matrix? 16 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I am suffering from significantly increased internal condensation on all the windows. I suspect heater matrix? Does the previous warranty free replacement still apply? What are the terms? Are there any sympathetic VW garages in South Herts, North London? How do I go about finding out if this has already been done on the car. PS there are no obvious leaks, dry carpets etc and condensation is much worse on starting to use demister to clear windows. -
Dual Mass Flywheel Problems - RAV 4 25 Jun 2007 (Forum)
It was repaired under warranty, but then started causing further probs after only 2.5k miles. When he approached his VW dealer, even though the vehicle still had 12 months of its 3 year warranty, they didn`t want to know. Needless to say the car was sold & never to be replaced by another VAG vehicle. -
Genuine Renault Parts ? returns policy!? 19 Jan 2006 (Forum)
This to me is totally illegal under consumer law ? isn?t it! They point blankly refused to move on the subject and would not recover the car at their expense. Now I know I have RAC cover and could have used that, but that would have meant loosing my NCD next year, so there would have been a financial loss to me. After contacting Renault UK they were also adamant that they were not going to budge and that this is their normal terms under their warranty, I pointed out that I was returning the item under consumer law not their warranty. -

1.6 TDCi - Ford Focus - turbo problems 12 Apr 2019 (Forum)
At that time I wasn't aware of the problems surrounding turbos on these models. Apparently the engine is manufactured by Peuoget and is used across a number of different manufacturers cars including the Stuido TDCi. Last week, just four months later the turbo failed again. My garage then took it to the local Ford main dealer. -

Hi - My car is a Vauxhall Corsa 2005 (55 plate) just out of warranty by 15 weeks and has only got 15k miles on the clock. On Boxing Day evening, whilst driving on the motorway at 70mph, my engine management light came on and I lost power. -

Serviced and MOT by Porsche only 400 miles later . Now Catalyst failed and replaced along with £350.00 Lambda sensors though they had only done 1500 miles. -
Audi A6 2.7 tdi - Warranty - Petrol Contamination 24 Sep 2011 (Forum)
This isn't under warranty as it's not a failure of the car! " It was interesting that when I tried the car out, it was extremely low on fuel and the salesman put a very small amount in whilst on the test. It was still reading in the red with the warning light on. -
Renault kadjar - Turbo failure on low mileage car Consumer rights? 16 Sep 2023 (Forum)
I've asked for a full investigation of the root cause. I'm waiting for a reply. Meanwhile my car is still at the dealers. 3 weeks later. I've read the consumers rights act 2015. My car is out of warranty. Unfortunately the manufacturer warranty was only 3 years in 2016 although since downloading the MY RENAULT app it says an additional warranty 4+ or 100k miles expired July 2020. -
any - new car for wife 22 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Astra fails because at 6'2" there is NO Room for even a child behind me! most of the time will be 2 of us but occasionally 4. Vw group cars excluded because of all the issues regarding customer services plus distance to dealer! BMW excluded because rwd and distance to dealer. At the end of the day has left us with Kia, but dealer is not rated highly locally. -
Tracking down a moved/closed car dealer 11 Apr 2005 (Forum)
At the beginning of February I discovered I had been mis-sold a used car warranty by a used car dealership, purchased back in October 2004. I queried it with them at the beginning of February on a Thursday, at which point they refuted the fact. On that day they mentioned they were moving premises, but didn't give a time frame and I stupidly didn't ask. -
I'm a dealer and need some advice re: problem car 1 Oct 2009 (Forum)
He got a 2nd opinion and they said it could be the torque converter and couldnt find a local dealer to carry out the work. I obviously felt quite bad about the situation and paid to have the car recovered to me (4 hours away) where it could be repaired by a local dealer I use who are excellent. He was happy with this and the garage recovered the car. Anyway, the warranty cover is for £2k and £50 an hour labour rate. -
Volvo 440 18 Aug 2001 (Forum)
We are concerned about the safety aspect and potential running costs of an old banger - he has no knowledge of, or interest in car maintenance. We have heard from a very reputable garage (that we personally use) of a car as follows: Volvo 440 1993L 5 door 1.6i with FSH and 55Kmiles previously owned by elderly couple and serviced regularly at said garage. -
Time to sell the MINI? 27 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Been toying with the idea of selling the MINI for the past couple of weeks - they seem to be everywhere now and with them coming up to 3 years old they'll start to become more common (and thus cheaper) used outside the dealer network as the warranty will have expired. What Car? spoke about the prices softening used and even Top Gear demoted it from "subZero" to "unCool" last night. So should we sell now and make the most of the residuals or do we keep hold of it as the values are unlikely to drop all that steeply.
