Any - Car Battery/Starter 27 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Recently, my daughters car (Peugeot 307 auto) had a flat battery, turned out she'd left the interia light on. For last Christmas my son had bought me an RAC Jump Starter Heavy Duty 400 amp. However, it would not start the car & we ended up taking the battery off & charging it overnight. -
Ford etc - Car dealers gone overnight 25 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Car Dealers in Basingstoke owned by City Motorholdings have gone overnight or so it feels. From what I can see Peugeot, Skoda, Seat, Ford, Honda and Suzuki just closed. There are more but it's such a mess no one seems to be sure who is left. Loads of jobs gone, local paper quotes trading difficulties. Also a largish Ford indie went the other week too. -
Best car for repatriation, opinions appreciated! 30 May 2013 (Forum)
In July I will return to England and I am looking to buy a car for between 2 - 3000 pounds (sorry no pound symbol on German keyboards) Im looking for a relatively small petrol car, eg Peugeot 206, Vauxhall Astra, Ford Focus etc... Engine no bigger than a 1.6. They all seem similar for the money, so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice. Thanks in advance -
Biggest regression on manufacturers' model change? 26 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Examples mentioned in Avant's post include: BMC 1100 to Allegro (which should have been a British Golf with a hatchback) Alfasud to Alfa 33 Peugeot 205 to 206 and 306 to 307 Saab 900 (pre-GM) to 9-3 -
Car required, diesel, £10k budget. Advise needed. 4 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Im after something with low miles on 10k, as il be putting a few miles on with business use. The Peugeot 407 is quite cheap and the Honda Accord gets a good write up on the cdti engines. After working the motortrade for 3 years its now my turn to buy a car! Advice gladly received thanks -
Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 04 1.4 "Check Air Bag" Warning 3 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Is this a common fault? Is it worth getting it checked out properly? I had a similar problem on a Peugeot in the past and the dealer had a terrible time trying to remove the error and I don't think they ever did successfully. -
Which new option would you recommend for SWMBO 2 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Also required to carry our twin 4 years olds. Options I'm looking at. Citroen C1 FIAT Panda Ford Ka 1.3i Peugeot 107 Toyota Aygo Hyundai Getz Your opinions or alternatives would be appreciated. All can be bought for £6000 and under with different amounts of spec. I guess the Ka and Panda will have the most spec but does this make them the better car to buy ? -
Ford Designers 9 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Owned a Peugeot many years ago that had sensors on the pads to indicate changing them before the discs became damaged. Ford pay their designers handsomely, so instead of fancy anti glare mirrors and "intelligent" wipers, why can't these boffins design, on all models, a device to warn when the pads are low. -

VW Tourag or Volvo XC90 ? 9 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hello all. I am looking at replacing my 5 yr old Seat Alhambra with either new SUV (possibly the new Peugeot 4007 or Citroen C Crosser) or, alternatively getting a 2-3 yr old quality SUV such as the Tourag or XC90. I tow a caravan and need a fairly heavy tow car. If I went for the new Pug or Citroen I would need to get a loan of about £5k The Volvo/ VW at 2-3 yrs old would mean no loan and thats probably the route I will go and i will go for 2.5l diesel but of the 2 which is better?!! -
Valve to piston clearance (aftermarket) 1 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Bit of a techy question, Im running a 2.0 16v peugeot engine (gti6) but it has been restroked to 2.1 litre and the cam has been reground for longer duration on the inlet side. The cam should be set to 2.66mm lift at TDC however when I checked the valve to piston clearance at TDC I get it at 2.1mm, this is before the valves have been lapped in and also before the head is fully torqued down, I still need to torque it a further 160 degrees. -
Aftermarket engine oil level gauge? 24 May 2007 (Forum)
Just wondering why the manufacturer's can't provide a gauge on dash for the oil pressure level? I've seen some cars that come with (eg. Porche, Peugeot 406 etc.) Is it possible to fit an aftermarket engine oil level gage? How much will it cost? Well, I was stupid enough not to check oil level every morning but a leak was beyond my imagination. -
Are we patriotic about cars? 17 Mar 2007 (Forum)
If you go to any European countries, you'll mostly see local brand cars! Example: France - Citroen, Peugeot, Renault Germany - Mercedes, Audi, VW etc. Sweden - Volvo, Saab (Merc & Audi pretty well too) Spain - Seat (and Skoda too) Czech Rep - Skoda Netherlands - mostly European cars even USA - Ford, GM etc. -
406 HDI mystery buttons 4 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Neither can be turned off until the ignition is turned off. It's clear that this is something after market and not standard Peugeot. Anyone have any ideas what these could be??? I was thinking maybe some sort of chipping mod but there is no obvious change in peformance when on. I've unclipped the ashtray and they are still connected to some wiring. -
Any better ideas? 20 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I'm thinking of buying a nearly new Peugeot 407 2.0 136 HDi. I test drove one the other day and was pretty impressed with spec, power and handling. I also like its design. I'm going to keep it for a good few years and before I take the plunge just wondered if anyone had any better ideas. -

Nissan Note 15 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Has anyone got comments on the Note, and would it be £12k of your money? How quickly do you expect before prices are discounted? I was looking at replacing my Peugeot 206 Sw 1.4 and have a budget of £11k and have been looking at Mazda 1.6, Focus, or Astra. I have uploaded a camera photo pic http://www.theairlineguide.co.uk/note.jpg Thanks in advance Baz -
New VW Golf Plus 28 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I like the look of the forthgcoming VW Golf Plus, which is a slightly taller version of the Mark 5, sort of roughly Peugeot 307 shaped. Truly a niche model if ever there was one, it sits between the Golf and Touran. I wonder what the thinking behind introducing TWO new Golf hatches, so similar except one is 4 ins taller than the other, is. -
Pug 106 steel wheel rims size 15 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Hi, I have a peugeot 106 diesel 1994 model, which needs a complete set of steel wheel rims. The previous wheels (alloys) were of size 165/65/R13. I am having trouble finding 13" steel rims for this car. Can I use 14" rims, or would this make the steering more heavy? -
just some info on a 306 5 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I've seen some second hand alloy's I like the look of, and need to find the wheel offset for a 94' Peugeot 306 xsi. Can anyone enlighten me as I've looked through the net, but can only find its between 15 and 22! The wheels I?m looking at have an offset of 35, so I would need hub spacers, and need to have a more precise figure.
