Cat D write off 17 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Hello, A friend of mine has recently had his car written off as Cat D for £1200. It is a 2000 Peugeot 106 Quiksilver with ~100k on the clock. The damage was purely cosmetic, however, there is a dent in the rear quarter which was estimated at over £700 just for labour, so the insurance company wrote it off. -

Toyota Avensis 2.2 175 bhp diesel 7 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I've arranged a test drive of an Avensis, though I may not get to drive the high-power diesel version. I've been impressed with my Peugeot 306 HDi and I might not want to change it. Can the Japs really produce a refined diesel? -

VAG Gearboxes - reverse crunch 5 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I've only ever driven cars that have a sensible gear layout (Reverse down on the right) The Toledo has one of those 'Press gearstick down and up to the left' layouts. Vauxhalls have this layout too. What is it about this design that makes reverse crunch? Peugeot, various Fiestas, sensible layout - no problem. Various Astras, Corsas, the Toledo - every now and then - CRUNCH! Grrrr. Any tips bar the usual 'make sure you've stopped completely, hold the clutch down for a few seconds'. -
306 "STOP" light keeps flashing 12 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Hi, I have a W reg 2000 Peugeot 306 Meridian 1.4, and the "STOP" light on the dashboard keeps flashing whilst I am driving along but no other lights come on. It sometimes stays on but I have checked everything I can think of but I can't get it to stop. -
306 Remote Locking 4 May 2005 (Forum)
Hi, this is my first post and I wonderd if any of you knowledgable people could offer advice. I've recently purchased a 1998 Peugeot 306 which has remote central locking. The problem is that you need to be behind the car virtually touching it before the thing will work. It does lock and unlock I just thought the range may have been better and it would actually work in front ot the car. -
room with a view 8 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Just spent a few days in Spain, much of it being driven in roomy 20 year old Peugeot 206 (still going strong), and one thing that struck me was the fabulous all round vision - thanks to deep windows. Today's designs involve ever higher "waistlines" and, particularly for young passengers, less chance to see out. -
307hdi questions 9 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Soft clunking noise coming from rhs when going over minor bumps/imperfections etc. Think from rear. The car has a complete Peugeot Service History. What are major itmes to look out for with these cars? What is correct oil change interval? When is timing belt due to be changed? -
Peugot 406 Coupe V6 - Changing the plugs 25 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Hi folks, Has anyone tried changing the plugs on the Peugeot V6 406 coupe themselves? It is a fortune to take it to the dealer to have the work done and I would really like to have a go myself - but being a V6 and with not a lot of space it looks to be quite a complicated job. -

106 xs brake fade 15 Dec 2003 (Forum)
my 98 peugeot 106xs suffers from front brake fade when driven hard. I have renewed the front discs and pads as well as rear shoes but the front still overheat when driven hard resulting in nasty brake fade. I was surprised to find that the discs are solid and not vented. -
New Battery for Pug 306TD 10 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Any good advice on choosing a new battery for my Peugeot 306 TD (1993)? The past two batteries I have had last me about 2-3 years, before they need replacing. I'm after any recommendations people have had with a particular brand, and what Amp rating battery I should lookout for. -

306 HDi 14 May 2003 (Forum)
Thinking of buying a 306 HDi, the first Peugeot for many years. Last 14 years had VW's, but last one has been poor and I fancy a change. Am I letting myself in for (expensive) trouble with a 306? HJ's car by car breakdown lists quite a few potential problems with the 306 but these are probably with the older models. -
Tyre choice? 6 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I've recently purchased an N-reg Peugeot 306 XSi. I find the handling in general excellent, but do find that the front wheels have a tendency to spin very easily - i think that the cheap and nasty tyres on the front are the cause. Does anyone have any tyre recommendations to give better grip, without being too soft and wearing rapidly? -
Spark plug adjustment 309 1.4i 9 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Mine (ok Mums ,and up for sale) - the i - runs badly from cold under any attempted hard acceleration. Misfires (I think.)The friend's Dad, who looks after her car, reckons that 'Peugeot say the spark plugs should be set at 32000 but Heatons [the garage] set the at 28000 and its better from cold.' Makes no sense to me but could this be true?
