Motorpoint is offering up to three years' of free comprehensive roadside assistance to new customers buying a car with one of its in-house finance products. The car supermarket chain has teamed up with Blackhorse to provide over £260 worth of breakdown cover to people who purchase one of its vehicles using its finance products such as HP or Boomerang, Motorpoint's Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) plan from November 1. -

Motorists keen to avoid the inconvenience of a breakdown or car insurance claim this winter have been encouraged to check their vehicles are in peak condition. The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) suggested owners replace worn windscreen wipers, check the alignment of headlamps and ensure anti-freeze is no more than two years old. -

Haynes Publishing warned attending servicing appointments is not always enough. 'Blinking can keep drivers from crashing' 28 Aug 2008 (News)
Research from GEM Motoring Assist has found that people blink on average ten times per minutes, with any more an indication that a driver is tired or bored. David Williams, chief executive of the breakdown firm, remarked that this is a good way for people to assess when they are no longer fit to carry on travelling. Indeed, it may be that such a method allows people to gauge when they should stop, helping them avoid an accident and a claim on their car insurance policy. -
