Saxo cold start problem 31 May 2004 (Forum)
My wife's Saxo diesel (68,000) has developed a bit of a problem when starting from cold. It blows white smoke from the exhaust and runs rough for about a minute, then settles down and runs perfectly. No problem on warm starts, just first thing in the morning. -

VAUXHALL SIGNUM 2.0 DIESEL 2004 - SIGNUM ELITE POWER LOSS 4 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Hi everyone. Ever since a cowboy 'mechanic' on a mobile van rescued my SIGNUM DIESEL after a wrong fuel incident, the TURBO has been giving me problems and the car has had considerably less power, and most especially a sudden loss after i rev the engive over 2500 revs at any given gear. -

Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 2.0 Worn diesel injectors?? 30 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Took it back to garage as I thought that maybe they had replaced the timing belt wrong. After 3 days and they told me that possibly the diesel injectors were on there way out or the fuel pump. They had attached it to a Peugeot diagnostics kit (borrowed as not a main dealer) and that showed high fluctuations in revs over 2000rpm. To fix would cost the best part of £1000 and wouldn't be worth it, however I don't have any of the other symptoms of diesel injector failure ie black smoke, problems starting. -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 1998 1.5 diesel cam belt change 5 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I am a pretty decent DIY?er and actually work for a major OEM in the UK but have always tended to shy away from the diesel cam belt replacements. Having purchased the car this week and found that its actually a reasonable drive whilst being ultra conservative on the fuel I thought it may actually be a long term investment? -
2003 Mondeo Diesel dropping revs 25 Jan 2007 (Forum)
also, when towing my caravan, if I put my foot down too hard on the motorway the glowplug light comes on and the car drops to a crawl until I pull over, stop the engine and restart. I've tried Wynns fuel tank cleaner and injection cleaner (for diesel) which I've always sworn by, but no difference Thanks in advance Stuart -
Dear diary I ran out of fuel today 4 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Well I knew the car needed fuel because the display said "low fuel level" and the yellow light was on in case I couldn't read. The computer also said I had fuel for 34 miles so I arrived at the filling station with 27 miles to go. -
2004 C-Max 2.0 TDCi fueling probs 14 Jan 2007 (Forum)
All ok. 5 days later major loss of power again just as I pulled out onto a dual carraigeway. Took it staright back to said super market to be told " nothing wrong, just needs some fuel in it " ( fuel light came on, on way there-loads still in) and the problem was air bubbles from the return diesel pipe hitting the low lying fuel and these bubbles were bieng sent to the engine hence the loss of power.( pink fluffy dice ) I responded by saying that if the problem returned I wanted it straight to Ford. 4th jan 07, just setting of towards the motor way with wife and 2 year old lad in the back, major loss of power AGAIN!!!!!! -
Mercedes C25DT (Sept 98) Auto (W202) 20 Feb 2006 (Forum)
A BOSCH Agent, Panda Fuel Injector Systems of Fareham, Hampshire, had the car for a week and reported that it was nothing to do with the fuel pump - the Merc agent suggested that the pump might be the problem! A new EGR assembly has also been fitted. -

More on Hydrogen. 17 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Other manufacturers also have fuel cell vehicles in the pipeline. Although a fuel cell now costs about 100 times more than a comparable conventional engine, the cost should fall as fuel cells enter mass production. But there are still hurdles to overcome. -

Peugeot 1.6 307HDi - Misfuel 15 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Should I top up with V Nitro even now at 3/4 tank? I don't really have the money to get it drained down but worried about the fuel injectors as I know there is a lot of carbon around the injectors. I didn't notice any increased heat or sputtering from the engine and from what I've read its because the diesel will sit at the bottom of the tank with the petrol on top? -

Which reliable and economical car under 3K 29 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I've been considering either a Honda Civic or a VW Golf - about an 01 reg. mainly because they both offer a reputation for reliability and very economical diesels. I'm fairly certain I want another diesel after my current 1.9D Xantia which has been great (in terms of fuel) considering it cost 400 quid. I usually drive alone but often carry quite a bit of stuff so I don't want to go any smaller.
