NhS Lease Scheme 7 Aug 2013 (Forum)
The quotes we have received are really good - they include insurance, tax, maintenance etc. We are thinking of getting rid of our 2008 Toyota auris anyway and looking at an audi a3. The quotation from the NhS is comparable to what we pay for just the car, without the extras, eg insurance, tax etc for the Toyota. Just wondering if anyone else out there who has a car on the scheme and if its worth doing? -
Lexus GS - Battered with the ugly stick 13 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Whats happening at Toyota, who on earth authorised that accessory shop sale special front skirt to be fitted to that fine car, the grill treatment is little better...are they trying desperately to better Audi in the who can make the most horrible looking car competition. Its not the first time that incredibly ugly cars have been offered for sale, but up till now Lexus models have been an example of understated good looks. -
Sweet spot VAG diesel engine? 2 Sep 2011 (Forum)
No DPF so no issues around town but will do 55mpg on a run? Plenty of boot space in something like an Audi A4 for the kids stuff. -
Origami cars..... 12 May 2011 (Forum)
In this week's Autocar there's a photo of fairly complex model of an Audi that's been made from paper, with lots of flat surfaces representing curves, a bit like a basic 3D computer image would look. A few pages on, there's a photo of Lambourghini's latest real* car which has decidedly 'origanmi' styling! -
smooth riding family car 4 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Hello, talking to my dad this weekend who is under the doctor with neck and back pain, he is going to change his car due to the harsh ride of his audi which is not helping the situation,he is not bothered about badge but wants a saloon or hatchback family car as he does a lot of running around with grandchildren. the ride is the important bit for him. -
Odd insurance clause 13 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Excess £250 as before but an additional excess of £200 if I do not use their approved repairer. Car is a 3 year old Audi so would obviously prefer to have any work done by a VAG approved shop. Insurance company not named for obvious reasons. -
Buying & selling cars. 1 Oct 2009 (Forum)
{moves to discussion, made non make/model specific as appears a general question rather than about Audi A5 & S5} -
Skoda Octavia II (2004 - ) - VW Group - Dual Mass Flywheel 10 Mar 2009 (Forum)
HJ published 2 letters in lhis Saturday Telegraph column (24 May) reffering to Dual Mass Flywheel failure on diesel engined VW Group vehicles - VW, Seat and Audi. I drive a Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI with the (auto) DSG gearbox. Has anyone suffered dmf failure to any so equipped VW group car - or is such failure solely down to 'clutch slip' due to 'drivers behaviour' with the manual gearbox? -
General servicing bills of various makes 1 Jan 2009 (Forum)
in other words, Fords are cheaper than, what shall we say, Toyotas and Hondas which are cheaper than VW or Audi and so on and so on. Just trying to gauge how people conclude that such and such car costs X to service when buying a new car? -
Another driver locked up [Read only] 9 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Driver who killed father and son and injured mother on M62 jailed for 2 lots of 8 years (concurrent). Ploughed into the back of the family's Punto whilst driving an Audi Q7 at high speed, over the limit and masturbating at the same time. He had already been reported by a motorist for wildly erratic driving. Wish it had been consecutive. He also got a 15 year ban but I don't suppose this will worry him too much. -

Poor state of German motorways? 20 Aug 2007 (Forum)
If it's not their road surfaces, I'll be regretting the 17-inch wheels and "sports" suspension on the Volvo :-( I'd read that Audi A4s had "firm" sports suspension, but I didn't really expect this on a Volvo?! -
Silly Thread Vol 8 2 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I think some of the car makers could have come up with some interesting names for their vehicles if they were brave enough, e.g. Austin Tashus Morris Dancer Nissan Hut Mini Skirt Lada Cupboard Audi Doodee AC Deecee Bristol Stupendous Cadillac Coldtea I did think up one for Bentley, but presumed it'd get snipped, so edited myself. There must be a load more! I accept some responsibility in this becoming silly - so its moved here ! -
4WD + ESP = Maximum stability? 4 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Am I right? Or are there other factors which would make, say, a BMW safer than a Honda Accord, or a FWD Audi safer than a Subaru? -- Stevie Lakland 44-02 Sunburst Yamaha YTS-23 -
Fan car 12 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Oh dear!! Beat this!!. I just had to share it. I was behind a new Audi A4? convertable, with the top down, in Kingston SW London. Red and white dangle on the rear view mirror Red and white ribbons on the door mirrors. Red and white stickers on the boot lid and back. Red and white probably on other surfaces. -
Adding praise for dealers found in dir? 9 Jun 2006 (Forum)
The Audi needed a service, so used my old favourites, Wheelbase in Hersham. My girlfriends Fiesta Zetec died last week with engine management light on, so got it trailered to Dagenham Motors, Byfleet. Both places did excellent work, no sucking of air, prompt attention, reasonable invoices and very polite follow up. -
Volvo D5 S60 21 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I am considering changing my car in the summer with a budget of about £9-10k. I am currently looking at the volvo s60 d5, honda accord pet/dis, and audi a4 tdi. I suppose i should be looking at 2002/3 examples here. I have spotted many good examples (low miles, FSH) of the volvo but i have a worry about apparent injectors failing on them costing £1500 or so? -
1999 A6 avant 1.9 tdi auto, worth it? 12 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Having just sold my Range Rover (3.9 classic), I'm tempted by something slightly more economical. Have spotted a 1999 'T' reg A6 avant auto, full audi history, 130 000 miles, £4995. Seems like a good price. Miles are high, but that doesn't scare me too much - I assume these units are good for a damn sight more than that (aren't they??) Any model specific things to be aware of? -
High Speed Insulation 3 Jan 2006 (Forum)
The car felt very safe and secure, and with plently more to give. It felt better at 100 than it does at 65. I am not surprised if high speed in an Audi A8 gives an illusion of safety and security that is not really there. -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive? -
upholstery question 9 May 2005 (Forum)
I hope this isn't too obscure a question but we have a 5 year old Seat which we are selling with 98k on the clock so quite mileagey and well used. The seats have a blackish fine cloth covering (same as Audi???) and on the drivers side squabs the material is losing its black colour and is turning an unsightly grey. I've been at it with a upholstery cleaning machine thinking the cloth is soiled but it seems to be discoloured/ faded and looks a right mess.
