  • Small horse van required 23 Nov 2006 (Forum)
As this is a wish list, the vehicle should be automatic; have a walk through to the rear from the cab; it should be not much wider than a standard van (due to the track-way it will be parked in); and be no higher to get in to than a Transit / Movano (my back problems are getting worse!). The only no-no is anything Renault based - we've had bad experiences with Renault dealers and are not prepared to give them any more money! Budget is around £15k (+vat if required, as it can be reclaimed). Any suggestions for vans suitable for conversion, ready converted vehicles, or conversion companys would be welcomed.

  • Scenic 55k rattle-rattle? 30 May 2006 (Forum)
I know very little about the insides of the engine in my 2000 W reg Renault 1.6 ALIZE Scenic, but it has recently acquired itself a little tappety-tappety whir at tickover which speeds up as you rev. It is inaudible inside the car, and not anything a casual bystander would notice, but I am mildly nervous about this metallic noise.

  • Best car you've had 6 May 2005 (Forum)
I'll start with an Anglia,it was the 1200,such power,I was a teenager,it was my first car.I thrashed it without mercy until the three bearing crank snapped one day.Undeterred I rebuilt a Cortina engine and dropped that in.Eventually four of us drove it to Morocco, sadly KLE 625D never made it back, but that's another story. Another vehicle that sticks in my mind is a Renault 20 TS auto,it was supremely comfortable,no doubt designed for pave(should be an accent over the e)and went like a rocket on kickdown. It was fairly straight forward for a Renault of the period, although they managed to negate the usefulness of the hatchback by having some bizarre rear seat pivoting arrangement instead of simply folding down.

  • If not Laguna, then what?? 30 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I can probably get most things in the £18-24k band (and a bit above), but lease costs are obviously higher for stuff like audis/beemers/mercs etc. I know I can get a Mondeo diesel Ghia X for the same outlay s the renault, but I don't think it looks as good, and I'm not keen on the look of the passat either. You just seem to get a far better equipped car for your money with the renault (and i admit it - I like toys!)

  • UK specs? 23 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Hi, I am going to buy a new Renault Scenic with either Virgin car or Trade Sales of Slough. I tried to convince my local dealer to match their offer but he instead started to warn me about the danger of buying import cars. So my questions are: What does full UK specs means?

  • Megane head gasket 9 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Mayonnaise inside filler cap on 1.4 Renault E7J engine at 35,000 miles (its my dads car, so I haven't seen the extent) . Are these engines prone to head gasket failure, or is it short journey syndrome?
