Hi, I have recently bought a Peugeot 206 1.4 auto on a 52 plate. It had one previous owner and fsh so thought it was a good buy. When im driving it seems to be over reving through 1st and 2nd gear change and its not that smooth. Once through that stage its fine through 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and 4th.
  • Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 1999 1.4 sluggish in reverse. Engine revs & noisy 5 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I just bought a Peugeot 206 at the weekend, and drove it for the first time yesterday, and I've noticed that when I reverse, it stops and feels like its going up a steep hill. Also a couple of times when I was stopped at traffic lights the car was still revving and making lots of noise.
  • Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 00 2.0 A question of volts 6 Dec 2008 (Forum)
'Theres our problem' methinks so as there was no improvement after cleaning earths recommended he fit a new alternator. This we did with a genuine Peugeot supplied exchange unit he supplied. We now have a constant 14.4 volts and the idling is perfect and light output stable BUT I still see 25v AC at the battery? Any thoughts?
  • Cars used by rental firms - UK, France, Germany 29 Oct 2008 (Forum)
(When I use Budget, it is a lot more unpredictable.) 2) I recently hired a car at a UK airport - Europcar, cheapest category - and got a Peugeot 308 (an upgrade!). There seemed to be rather a lot of Peugeots at Europcar at that airport. 3) It often seems to me that in this country, each year one or two models will be particularly popular with rental firms, probably because the special deals from the manufacturers.
  • Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 - Head Gasket Problem 20 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hello Guys, Interesting forum. My peugeot 406 1.8 16V Petrol's head gasket has blown up. And my mechanic says its going to cost me £350 with parts. I am not sure if he is charging me reasonable. Can somebody tell me what all needs to be changed and fixed when the head gasket goes.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 97 2.0 Car wont start 18 Oct 2008 (Forum)
The next morning however, after starting the car fine and driving for a mile the engine cut-out. I had it towed to a garage where the mechanic said that my sump was cracked and that the Peugeot 306 was designed to force the engine to cut out if oil loss occured so as to avoid further damage. The mechanic replaced the sump; and here it gets interesting. The car failed to start. The mechanic first demanded payment for replacing the sump before investigating further.

  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - Bits floating in fuel after system re-build ? 25 Aug 2007 (Forum)
This then forces the car into limp mode. Its had a new lifter pump, high pressure pump, all new filters and injectors cleaned. Peugeot originally said it needed a new ecu, had that sent off and checked at the ecu doctor, very helpful, was running in another car perfectly. They now reckon that there are bits floating round in the fuel system and say its gonna cost another £2500!!!!!!!!
  • Peugeot & Citroen cooling fan motors 11 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I would like to know if the two different manuafacturers of radiator cooling fan motors for the Peugeot/Citroen range are interchangeable? I am talking about a 1999 306 1.6 petrol, but there seems to be lots of PSA models covered by these parts. The two types are either GATE or ECIA. Even the main dealer asked which type were fitted to my car (some help the chassis number is to them!)
  • Peugeot 306 TD cooling problems 4 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Hi, Was wondering if anyone can help me out, I have a peugeot 306 1.9 TD (M reg) and having problems with the cooling. Temperature was all over the place, so took the thermostat out and ran cold as it should, then put a new thermostat in and wouldnt have it, it overheated, so took it back out and now there is no circulation at all and the engine just heats up.
  • Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI noises - what? 29 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I have a X reg Peugeot 406 2.0 HDi Est which has suddenly started making some funny knocking noises. The noises originate from the side of the engine with the belts on (offside?) and are intermitant in such that can drive for 5 miles with no problem, but will then suddenly start knocking quite loudly.
  • Peugeot 106 help please 12 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Hi, I've posted this all over the place and no one is responding and I'm getting desperate. I own a peugeot 106 phase 1, 1995 1.1 petrol. Basically I filled it up both oil and coolant last week and the car is running sweet. However i noticed at the weekend that the coolant seems very oily and I had a tiny bit of mayo on the radiator header tank (which is bolted to the rad on the 1.1).
  • Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6 starting problem 14 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I recently purchased a Peugeot 205 gti 1.6 and set about repairing all the bits that had dropped off. After changing the head gasket I found the car would not run. It turned over, would catch briefly then die. After setting up the throttle position sensor I managed to get it to run and it did so for a few days.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1999 HDi Central Locking problem 8 Jul 2005 (Forum)
I managed to clear this by locking the car with the key in the drivers door, holding it so the deadlocks activated and then bliping the car open. Peugeot dealer claim their is no connection between the central locking and the ECU, but my car only refuses to start when the central locking is playing up (which fault is intermittent). Has Anyone had a similar experience or think the dealer could be wrong ?
  • Whistling diesel - peugeot 306 xtdt 25 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Hello I have a peugeot 306 xtdt (1997) which thus far has given very reliable service. However as i was driving home last night with the window open i could hear a sort of whistling noise as i accelerated from around 1500 rpm to 2000.
  • Tata Loadbeta 5 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Does anyone know what engine we can use as a replacement?. The original engine we understand, is a Peugeot design made under licence by Tata. Someone has suggested the old Peugeot 504 / Sierra 2.3 These engines may well fit but these are like rocking horse poo and/or have been 'taxied' to death. Someone else has suggested that the Peugeot 405 diesel will fit.
  • Peugeot 306 - Buying an old used one! 26 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I have just had a garbled message form daughter that I have been detailed off to give a used Peugeot 306 Diesel the once over on behalf of her boyfriend who is useless! I have printed out the car by car breakdown from the HJ site so can see the recurring bits and bobs - so happy with that. However, I thought she said it was a 1992 1.9 Diesel and this is not covered in the 306 dates, so assume that must be my error and the car is a 93 or a 94.
  • Peugeot 406 climate control fault 7 Apr 2004 (Forum)
A friend has a Dec 1999 Peugeot 406 2.0 HDi. The display on the climate control panel indicates that the A/C is on and functioning, but it doesn't actually work. Thermostat has already been replaced to no effect. Suggestions he's had so far were to replace the control panel or plug some kind of additional "control box" (apparently specifically for the aircon) onto the ECU. 1) Does anyone know is there a proper name or part number for this "control box"?
  • Fuel Consumption Peugeot 307 18 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I have a Peug 307 Dturbo 2.0 HDi with 10k on the clock. The main reason for purchase is that I drive a lot of miles in France. Peugeot claim 40 mpg urban, 67 - extra urban, 54 combined. I am very disappointed with my car\'s performance and have been monitoring very carefully. On Motorways at an indicated 80 mph I achieve less than 40 mpg.
  • Peugeot 306 XRDT Queries 14 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I've just acquired a '94 Peugeot 306 XRDT but it didn't come with a handbook so I'm a bit in the dark about some things. I think it's got remote, central locking, alarm and immobiliser but the plip doesn't work remotely (the central locking works but I have to do it manually).
