  • A Grand Monday: Yugo 45a Tempo 9 Apr 2018 (News)
If you could live with the egg-carton feel to the interior and the rather noisy, unrefined cabin, the little Yugo was both willing and quite entertaining to drive, while they were also surprisingly hardy little beasts, with better rust protection than most of their contemporaries. Of course, being cheap meant that Yugos were often considered disposable, and while they're still a common sight in Eastern Europe, where over half a million were sold, there are less than 30 left on Britain's roads.
  • 4 in 10 drivers are running on dangerously uninflated tyres 12 Jan 2018 (News)
.” Michelin and Kwik Fit technicians found 27.56 per cent of cars they checked had at least one dangerous tyre, with 12.01 per cent having at least one very dangerous tyre. Michelin's spokesman, said: “Driving around on underinflated tyres costs money and it can cost lives. We wanted to team up with Kwik Fit to encourage motorists to check their tyre pressures regularly. It makes sense from a cost and environmental point of view, but more importantly it’s critical for the safety of the vehicle, its passengers, other road users and pedestrians.” Running a car with tyres underinflated by 7psi decreases fuel efficiency by about one mile per gallon.
  • Beast of Turin set for London Classic Car Show 13 Nov 2017 (News)
. The car will form part of the display on the Grand Avenue – a ‘catwalk’ that allows classic cars to drive up and down the centre of the show. ‘Specials’ is the theme of the latest event as the organisers honour these unique machines (and their often-outrageous performance).
  • Austin-Healey race car sets the pace at Revival auction 14 Aug 2017 (News)
In 1965, a young rally enthusiast named Caj Hasselgren saw the vehicle advertised for sale, and, after a test-drive with Aaltonen in which they reached 220km/h (137mph) on the motorway, fell head over heels with it. Fifty-one years later, Hasselgren has decided to sell the car after having spent nearly 20 years restoring it to its former glory.
  • A Grand Monday: Ford Mondeo 31 Jul 2017 (News)
Here was a car that, at long last, proved that Ford could thoroughly engineer a chassis.  It was the company's first front-wheel-drive large family hatch, and the first of a generation of Fords that enjoyed class-leading handling. It was also well screwed together, and was a giant leap forward from the Sierra that it replaced. Indeed, there were only a handful of criticisms levelled at the car.
  • Baltic Rally gears up for Copenhagen start 22 May 2017 (News)
Highlights include a drive across the Oresund Bridge between Sweden and Denmark – the longest road and rail bridge in Europe, a visit to the SAAB museum in Trollhattan, and a sumptuous ferry across the striking Stockholm Archipelago.
  • Fraudster jailed for £29,000 insurance scam involving fake Ferrari 4 Apr 2017 (News)
Adam Islam crashed his Toyota MR2, modified to look like a Ferrari F430, into his friend's hired Audi A1 on 12 September 2014 after both were driving recklessly. Knowing the crash would void their insurance claim for the damages, Islam lied to his insurer. Islam claimed he didn't know the driver of the Audi - his friend Abu Khayer - and that he'd been rear-ended after his fake Ferrari had broken down.
  • A Grand Monday: Volvo 240 GLT 13 Mar 2017 (News)
. Once a bargain banger that was useful for lugging loads, from grandfather clocks to Welsh dressers, the 240 estate is now regarded as an icon of its era - and quite a collectable one at that.  Sure, they're fairly clunky to drive. They're not quick, they're not to be cornered quickly and they're hardly elegant, but there's a charm about the 240 estate that goes way beyond any of that 'road tester' nonsense. These are cars with practicality, solidity and dependability in spades, with a level of build quality that suggests even nuclear armageddon would be shrugged off as a minor inconvenience.
  • Abandoned E-type up for sale 8 Mar 2017 (News)
Left for almost 20 years, this car is an early example of one of Jaguar’s best-known models. Chassis 282 is a a right-hand drive, manual example, it has had two registered owners from new and has a guide price of £38,000 to £44,000. The car's first owner bought it on 4 April, 1962, and registered to his Birmingham address.
  • A Grand Monday: Honda CRX Del Sol 5 Dec 2016 (News)
In terms of its styling, it looks to be mid-engined like a Toyota MR2, but it is, in fact, front-engined and front-wheel-drive, like the Civic on which it is based. The rear conceals a moderate sized boot, and a somewhat larger luggage storage area behind the seats, accessed by tilting or sliding them forwards. It’s awkward, but it kind of works.  CRXs of both generations have a strong following on the Japanese car scene, with the later models still attainable for a relatively sensible outlay.
  • A Grand Monday: Vauxhall Vectra 28 Nov 2016 (News)
It was the car that Jeremy Clarkson famously refused to drive. A model that, in his view, was so devoid of character that even Vauxhall's own PR department turned in desperation to its aerodynamic door mirrors just to give them something to write about, while in the process unfortunately drawing journalists' attention to the fact that, while they may have been slippery and streamlined, the mirrors weren't actually any use for seeing what was coming up behind you.
  • Historics 26th November Auction Taster at London Classic Car Show today 28 Oct 2016 (News)
This ultra-rare right-hand drive 5.5 litre V8 supercharged 580HP 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG is one of just 40 built and has a mere 9,900 warranted miles. It should still be capable of its restricted maximum speed of 199mph and is estimated at £210,000 to £250,000.
  • London to get new historic motorsport show in 2017 21 Sep 2016 (News)
Hosted by broadcaster and journalist Henry Hope-Frost, the ticketed conference will examine a wide variety of topics including the use of current technology in classic race and rally cars, driving standards and sponsorship. There will be up to 100 competition cars for sale from leading specialist dealers while other exhibitors will include motorsport clubs, governing bodies, officials, sponsors and media owners.
  • A Grand Monday: Rover 200 BRM, £875 25 Apr 2016 (News)
Although it was a surprisingly rewarding car to drive, indeed, a right laugh, the BRM hardly set the world on fire. Despite its limited production run, Rover struggled to shift them down to a rather ambitious asking price of £18,000 – hence why this one wasn’t registered until December 1999, a year and  a half after the BRMs were built.
  • A Grand Monday: BMW 3-series Touring £850 7 Mar 2016 (News)
The difficulty, though, is finding a good one. There are two reasons for this. First, while E36s are terrific to drive and feel well engineered, the overall durability just isn’t as good as the E30 generation of 3-Series that preceded it. Second, the sad truth is that many have ended their lives as amateur drift cars.
  • A Grand Monday: Low-mileage Metro, £999 8 Feb 2016 (News)
There’s suddenly quite a following for Metros, with the earliest examples selling for upwards of £3000-£4000 in excellent condition. The later, Rover-badged cars are less collectable but are, by contrast, much better cars to drive. With the lively K-series engine, which seems far less afflicted by head gasket failure in the Metro’s standard 1.1-litre and 1.4-litre guise than it does in larger cylinder capacities, coupled to excellent handling and upmarket interiors, they make great inexpensive classics, especially for younger drivers.

Supplied with its original handbooks, tool kit and car cover, it was first registered on 31 October, 2009, in Switzerland.
  • Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Smart reveals Fortwo Cabrio 15 Sep 2015 (News)
The size of the Fortwo remains the same as the hard-top though, which means the two-seater is still ideal for urban driving due to its compact size that stretches just 2.6 meters long and 1.8 meters wide. The exterior is slightly different with narrower B-pillars to facilitate the folding mechanism.
  • Jaguar Land Rover fights back on potholes 10 Jun 2015 (News)
The technology, which is fitted to Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport research vehicles, is currently able to best judge potholes when the car actually drives over them – but the company hopes that advanced road-scanning technology in future will change that. JLR’s Dr. Mike Bell explains: "By monitoring the motion of the vehicle and changes in the height of the suspension, the car is able to continuously adjust the vehicle’s suspension characteristics, giving passengers a more comfortable ride over uneven and damaged road surfaces."
