• Renault Espace (1997 - 2002) - 00 - electronic dash issues 19 Oct 2008 (Forum)
  TBH I'd settle for getting the dash reprogrammed to read in miles again. But I don't particularly want to go to a Renault dealer and be told I need to shell out a four-figure sum on a new dash and radio. Any ideas what's up / where to start? Needless to say I've tried disconnecting the battery for a few hours, to no avail.

  Just in case this is of use to anyone (it doesn't appear to be in the handbook), I've posted it here: To set Renault Scenic II / Grand Scenic digital speedometer and trip computer to metric: Ignition must be off (so open and close the door in the case of full keyless models) Press and hold the upper (^) fuel computer button on the end of the wiper stalk Still holding the ^ button, insert the key card into the slot on the dash.

  Hello all. I was wondering is someone on here can help me. I have a Renault Espace 1993 L reg petrol 2.849cc . Problem: Not passing emissions test for mot Took vehicle previously to a different mot station and it failed on middle box blowing among other things. Please note at this time it passed all tests on emissions.

  Yesterday we had to bail 25 pints of water out of the spare tyre well out of our car and there's dampness underneath the rear seats (in the middle). I rang my local renault garage and they suggested that it might be coming in from a door seal or from around the rear light fittings but I've been tipping water over the car for the past 2 hours and I can't see anything coming in.

  I have a Renault Megane Scenic Alize 1.6v (V reg) Automatic that has recentl;y started playing up, have just bought it second hand in December 2007, the problem is this: Last Sunday i drove to Birmingham, it started to rain and then after a few miles my gear box started playing up, no power, sluggish and when stopped the car was vibrating, like a car that is idling but just managing to stay running, you know, close to cutting out/ stalling.

  My Renault Clio 94(L) failed its Mot yesterday due to its emissions. The same happened last year and eventually the car just passed the emissions, but not before spending more money than the car was worth, and plenty of blood, sweat (My dad's) & tears (Mine)).

  just wondering if anybody can help me as my renault clio 1.4 auto diyed on me as i was driving down the road the "breakdown" idiot told me it was fuel problem which was rubbish it turns over then wont fire up checked the sparks only got a spark on plug 4 gearbox side so ive cahnge all sparks ht leads distruboter cap and rotory arm and got sparks from 2 somtime 3 and 4 plugs so replaced the coil pack but not shaw if i replaced the ht leds right on the distruboter end if look straight down at the destributor put spark 1 on bottom left corner then spark 2 on top left corner then spark 3 on bottom right then the 4 on top right eny way i change them round it doesnt fire up and start if that isnt the problem wat will i do next as im glue less now yet when spark 3 was out it nearly fired up plz could up help with my problem yours thankfully matthew davies

  I'm not completely thick - I have managed to change the headlight bulbs - no small achievement! If the next step is a garage - not sure if it's best going to a Renault garage which doesn't care or a small private garage? (do they understand turbo diesels?)

  I am planning an oil change and want to use 5w/40 fully synthetic, this seems to be the best mix, high enough as recommened by Renault to protect the engine when hot and low enough to cause the minimum amount of wear when starting, So basically is it safe (ie not too thin), to use a 5w/40 fully synthetic? 2. the 2nd question, what size allen key do i need to get the sump plug off?

  I have been trying to sell my 3 year old Renault diesel (30k miles) without success for a couple of weeks now. No serious interest. I do not think it is overpriced (In fact it was the cheapest private sale on autotrader) in relation to age/spec/mileage/condition.

  Off to garage, buy plastic can, 5 litres of ESSO finest, and back to car to fill her. 15 -20 pumps of bulb gets a satisfying filling of the tube with an ice blue/yellow colour and hard feeling to bulb. 10 seconds of engine churning gets a even more satisfying growl of DCi engine firing up. So Renault - BAD BAD BAD - the fuel gage and trip computer is wildy inaccurate. Clio 3 DCi owners beware. Renault GOOD GOOD GOOD, thanks for making the re priming of the diesel system so easy and obvious.
• Renault Grand Scenic - any good? 25 Mar 2007 (Forum)
  Went to Holland on Friday for a meeting and due to flight costs, we flew into an airport some distance from the meeting and hired a car. We ended up with a Renault Grand Scenic (1.6 petrol) Apart from being as flat as a pancake performance-wise, I was very impressed with it, particularly the size of the boot with the 3rd row of seats folded, the comfort levels, the amount of kit provided, and the list of really nice detail touches which seem to have been designed by someone who knows what's involved in carting two young kids and their various paraphernalia around.

  I have a 97 1.4 Renault Megane, the cat was rattling about and the guy at kiwk-fit suggested I get it replaced so I did. Went to collect it and he said he had done an emissions test on it with results; HC 5ppm CO:0 C02 14.06 02 1.96 RPM:0 Lambda 1.10 He said the HC should be about 30, 02 about 0.1 and lambda 1 and said my ECU must be on its way out, Do you guys agree with this?
• Uneven tyre wear - Renault Modus 10 Jan 2007 (Forum)
  The outer edge of the L/H front tyre on SWMBO's Renault Modus is wearing down quite badly. Her brother [my brother in law] swears this is being caused by the power steering and not bad alignment. He has worked for a local tyre fitting firm for 22 years as a tyre fitter so he does have some [relevant] experience on this matter - in my opinion.

  I have a 02 reg 16 valve 1.6 renault megane fidji. driving home tonight i heard a kinda pop noise and lost all power to the engine, brake failure etc. managed to pull over pretty quickly ( i was on the M25 crossing qe2 bridge at the time doing around 50 i guess. anyway RAC came out and to cut a long story short was told timing belt has gone. so the questions are as follows is the engine interference or non interference as i gather this could make a difference to repair costs. im a total car noob and no nothing about engines etc. what would be the best and worst case scenario on cost of repairs to this.

  Got a 2003 Renault Clio 1.5 DCi diesel that according to owner seems to have a problem with the headgasket. On start up it idles roughly for about 3 seconds then settles down to a stable idle. When the throttle is used, huge amounts of white vapour/smoke exits the exhaust making driving look like a low level flypast of the Red Arrows!!

  I have the offer of a Renault Laguna 2 Dynamique estate with a 1.9 DCi engine and 6 speed gearbox. It is a 2002, 52 model and has 73k on the clock with a full service history. It would be available I estimate at a little under £7k.
• Renault 19 1.4 Energy Engine change 6 Jun 2003 (Forum)
  Hi guys, I am changing the engine gearbox in my friends H reg 1.4 energy Renault 19. Now this fine (ahem) car has the carb version of the 1.4 energy engine in it - and my mate in his infinite wisdom has gone and got an engine and gearbox out of a 70k M reg \'19. As this version of the energy engine has the single-point injection module on the top inplace of the carb, I have a cunning feeling when I go to connect everything back up its not going to work....
• Renault 19 1.7 - slow and jerky starting 19 Feb 2003 (Forum)
  I drive a 1989 Renault 19 1.7 with the 1721 cc F2N, carburettor engine. Over the last 3,000 miles (i.e., most of the winter) the car has had new plugs, air filter, HT leads and distributor cap - which it needed - a new starter motor - again needed, regardless of this fault - and will soon be getting a new fuel filter.
