Seat Leon Cupra & LPG 28 Mar 2003 (Forum)
So, I have 3 options: 1) Covert to LPG and gamble that nothing major goes wrong with the engine. 2) Sell the Cupra and go for the Diesel Leon. 3) Stop drinking so much beer and carry on running on petrol. Any thoughts please? Paul. -
SEAT Altea (2004 - ) - Altea in Provence (Road Test) 8 Apr 2008 (Forum)
(I take it that this is because diesel engines are ?tight? when new, and fuel economy improves significantly after several thousand miles, whereas petrol engines are just about at their most economical when new?) I might add that the car was shod with Michelin Energy tyres, which should mean that fuel economy was about as good as it was going to get. -
Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 03 2.0 engine anti pollution system faulty ??? 7 Dec 2009 (Forum)
hi guys, please please can anyone help,, i have a peugeot 307 sw se 2.0 hdi.. some weeks back a engine warning light came on. its glows orange, and on the display screen it reads " engine anti pollution system faulty". plus on top of this, the fuel cunsumption has dropped drastically i mean on a full tank of diesel i am getting about 130 miles and then i am bone dry, time to refill. on inquiring at the main peugoet dealership they said that they needed the car to a full diagnostics and go from there, thus they did, they came back with. the serine fluid tank was empty, apperently this fluid is a additive, which is injected, into the tank every time you release the fuel filler cap,,, i had to go with what they said, they said apart from re-filling the serine fluid tank, it would also need what is called re-force generation, they said they have to do this to reset the allowance of fluid injected into the tank, all this work was done on friday 4th decembar 2009, and i am 200 quid ligther in my wallet. -
Renault Kangoo Van 1.9D - Lucas Epic injection pump 30 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I ran thru a series of checks such as new air filter, fuel filter, cat clear. Egr was replaced by previous owner 6 months ago and is checked and working fine. I then took it to local diesel specialist who checked for fault codes and found none. Their suggestion was injectors or injection pump but thought more likely injectors because it ran and started so well. -

Vauxhall - New GM engines on the way 8 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Taken from the Autocar website. Vauxhall-Opel is poised to replace its entire line-up of four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, starting this year with a new range of direct-injection 1.6 petrol units for the Astra. The engines will feature hi-tech refinements required to cut fuel consumption and CO2, such as turbocharging, double variable valve timing and, where necessary, balancer shafts. -
You tell me! - Another what car thread! 17 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I'm currently driving an '03 Focus TDCI, lowered and remapped, but after 5 years I'm considering a change and would like something a bit sportier and more responsive to drive BUT also want decent fuel economy (i.e: 40mpg+), a car with enough space to put my bike in or which can take a towbar for a proper bike rack, with a high enough top gear for relaxed motorway cruising. I also don't fancy a diesel with a DPF, so have been looking at older diesels pre-05 and those without filters. -
Mile-munching estate 1 Jun 2011 (Forum)
An estate format is the most practical for both dogs and shopping, and of course mpg as I'll be spending more on fuel than the car. I'll want a mid-high range diesel for drivability - nothing underpowered as the mpg is rarely worse for the bigger diesel engines in any case. Reliability is important... that that rules out anything French. -

Channel 4 programme 17 Jan 2005 (Forum)
They aired the Toyota Prius, which is selling well in the US, and the 'token' Ford Escape Hybrid. Yet we in Europe have embraced the diesel and 50+ mpg is commonplace. What's the problem, Uncle Sam? The programme then went on to talk about the ultimate SUVs, the Hummer H1 and H2. Military Hummers are diesel but it seems the civvy ones have big petrol V8s.
