BMW 320 CI - What are my rights? 25 Jul 2015 (Forum)
I have paid for a car that I cannot use and have taxed and insured it for it to just sit on my drive. I am extremely frustrated and feel I want to take legal action. -
SEAT Arona - New Engine fitted - No Warranty 1 Apr 2025 (Forum)
The only issue to be resolved is the warranty on the new engine SEAT says it will only have the "used approved" balance of the 2 year warranty (expires Sept 26). Should the engine need replacing again then this warranty will cover only £1000. -
warranties be aware:update 28 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Original posting: ------------------ Author: Roger K. (---.cache.pol.co.uk) Date: 02-12-01 16:40 I have recently had some warranty work (used car) carried out by a well known Rover main dealer in SE London. I had a lower radiator outlet pipe split. I took the car to the dealer and explained the exact fault - I even drew a diagram for them! -

2009 3.0 SLine stronic Mileage 52, regularly serviced but not full Audi sh. Car bought second hand a year ago with £2000 warranty cover. Toyota Avensis 2008 2.2D Estate - Head Gasket failure 2 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Therefore no assistance would be given towards the 2K bill. Shocked, I rang Toyota CS who virtually said get stuffed and don't ring us again, minion!!! I thought I'd buy a quality Jap car as I've been a Rover man for years (I used to work for them). Seems all that criticism about Brit cars is NO different to Japanese. Luckily the car is under a seconhand warranty (the car was purchased in the M/Facturers 3 year warranty period) so they will foot 1K of the repair bill and the garage have dropped the cost now so I will pay only circa £230. -
VW dealer "Swindle" 30 May 2001 (Forum)
Just over a year ago I bought an approved Used VW golf from a franchised dealer, the car came with 12months Warranty and 12 months MOT. When I returned for the MOT a few weeks before both it and the warranty expired, the VW dealer "found" over £ 400 worth of work than was needed in order to obtain a further 12 months MOT, You should have seen the look on the guy's face when I told him that was his problem as the car is covered by VWs warranty. -
Travelling to buy a (used approved) car? 22 May 2014 (Forum)
Or is it a case of negotiate over phone, drive down, test drive, agree to buy, drive home, wait a week, repeat to pick up the car? Not knowing much about what makes a good car, and what makes a lemon, should I be able to trust any used car a Toyota Dealership provides? Do I need to check everything (electrics etc) at the time I pick it up? -
Value from warranty. 30 May 2008 (Forum)
Chap came to my house the other day, and he drove a unusual car, a hyundai terracan 4 x 4, auto diesel. 2.9 v6. I think it was 54 plate (can't promise) and he'd done 130K in the vehicle, car was obviously well used as a work vehicle, the interior boot area had a liner and he carried all sorts of gear in there, including building stuff for the house he's renovating. -
Car price drop incoming? 11 Nov 2022 (Forum)
Hi, I helped a friend buy a used car last month, she got a 3 year old BMW 3 series diesel. Before she’s purchased the car, we had been to see 2 others at different BMW dealerships. For various reasons we didn’t go with them including the unwillingness to budge on the price and/or throw in a longer warranty. -
Ford Fiesta 1.25 - Servicing 18 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Car is coming up to 3 years old with 21k miles so needs MOT and service to comply with Ford warranty. Is it essential (or advisable) to use a Ford main dealer especially as the 3 year warranty is due to expire. -

Kia in the USA 20 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Just back from the USA. I saw that Kia dealers are offering a 10 year warranty on their new cars. With the cars costing around $12000, it makes you realise how much it costs to do business in the UK compared to the US. -
Used Saab 9-3 25 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Considering buying a used 9-3 - 2 yrs old 25,000 miles What should I watch out for? Is this a good vehicle - I'm looking for something solid, comfortable and safe - good on the motorway and ok to drive in town. I've looked at the car-by-car breakdown - just wondering if anybody has good/bad experiences of these. -
VW Golf - Warranty on parts after car repair 7 Apr 2010 (Forum)
General question - I had a clutch master cylinder replaced a few months ago due to the clutch pedal getting stuck down on my Golf. This cured the fault until a week ago when now it is back. Car into garage and they feel needs a new cylinder again and said yes that the part is covered by warranty. Gave me 2 options - take car to VW (part was apparently from them initially) let them take it apart and if found to be faulty the work will be free or (ii) they will do it, I'd pay in full for work to be done and the new part but then garage will send part back under warranty and reimburse me (but labour would remain payable). -
Mazda 6 - Engine replacement 2 Jun 2013 (Forum)
My husband has just bought a Mazda 6 on an '05 plate (two months ago now) which was supposed to have a 3 month warranty. Five weeks after he bought it on the 4th March the engine went and we have since had it stripped down and examined. The lovely garage we used has reported that the engine is full of metal filings and we will need to replace it. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 07 2.0 TDCI servicing & warranty 23 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Is £210 too much? Secondly the girl on the desk told us our car had missed a service as the previous owner didn't get the 12.5K done and the first was when the garage received it at 21K so we would be looking at getting the 37.5K service. I said we'd be as well waiting until the car got to 37.5K rather than getting one now and she told me it would affect our warranty. -

AA Warranty - How to cancel 2 Apr 2008 (Forum)
We've had a AA Warranty on our car since we purchased since 2002. We have recently sold the car. I telephoned the AA to cancel and because it was least renewed in March 2007 and we made a claim shortly after we have to pay the installments to March 2009! -
Nissan Micra SE 1.4 Automatic - New or 2nd hand steering wheel under warranty? 19 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I bought a used car in September(very low mileage). This car broke down under the dealer's 3 month warranty & steering wheel needed replacing. Dealer has replaced with very old, shabby replacement with which I am not happy.
