Peugeot Partner Teepee - Advice on buying a small van/car second hand - emily_11

We're a tv production company with 4 young drivers and we're ready to buy our first company van, second hand! The boot needs to be of decent size to fit cameras, tripods etc in, but as most of us are under 25 we are looking for one in a low insurance category. None of us have ever bought a vehicle before but this is what we've got so far.
Looking for something like a Peugeot Partner Teepee 1.6 HDi 90 (as recommended by Honest John!) or a Citroen Bellingo, or a reliable car with a decent sized boot (maybe a skoda fabia?) Budget is about £3000 - £4000
If we get it from a garage, what sort of warranty should we be looking for?
How do we find one?
Any other (cost cutting) tips for van newbies?
Insurance? Any other vehicle suggestions or advice regarding warranties you have for us would be valuable as well. Thanks

Upto £4,000 will be the old shape Berlingo multispace/partner tepee (they are 100% the same car except the badge).

You may, find a petrol version of the current shape or £4,000 but the 1.6 petrol that came out in 2008 was not great, heavy on the fuel, slow, etc.

You may be better looking for a fiat doblo in the 1.4 petrol form for the kind of money you are talking about.

You may find a current shape, highish mileage petrol 1.4 doblo for £4 grand.

1.4 doblo is a decent engine, it pulls ok.

Worth noting Peugeot/citroen introduced a more powerful 1.6 petrol unit around 2010 with 120bhp. Alot better than the 1.6 unit which originally came out with the current shape berlingo/partner.

I've used one of these for the purposes you have in mind:

They have a large boot and are identical to the van version if you fold the rear seats down. Mine had the 1.6 engine, was very reliable and did 38mpg over 40,000 miles.

You could start looking for a vehicle on here. Click on Cars For Sale at the top of the page, then specify what you want and how far you're prepared to go for it.
