2009 3.0 SLine stronic Mileage 52, regularly serviced but not full Audi sh. Car bought second hand a year ago with £2000 warranty cover.

Got intermittent "gearbox malfunction" message, but car ok once fault cleared.

Took it to local Audi specialist who advised using Audi/DSG "fix" (replacing bits on mechatronics unit). Warranty company agreed to pay (£900) but problem recurred within 3 days.

Audi specialist now says he will fit new mechatronics unit for free if warranty company and I split parts cost (£2000 total) but he can't guarantee it will fix it as gearbox may be underlying fault. Gearbox costs £7500.

Do i risk another £1000 or cut losses and just trade it in?
