Mazda 6 - Engine replacement - coolmum

My husband has just bought a Mazda 6 on an '05 plate (two months ago now) which was supposed to have a 3 month warranty. Five weeks after he bought it on the 4th March the engine went and we have since had it stripped down and examined. The lovely garage we used has reported that the engine is full of metal filings and we will need to replace it. The car has only done about 70,000 mile which is nothing for a diesel engine.

Can anyone tell me if they have had a similar problem with the Mazda? If it is common it isn't very well publicised.

At the moment we are well and trully stuffed because the place my husband bought the car from has 'apparently' changed hands two weeks after he bought it and there is nothing on any of the paperwork to indicate where it was purchased. The warranty was not handed over on purchase and although promised, has not been forthcoming since. My husband needs a car for his work and at the moment is using hire cars which can't continue as it is too expensive.

Has anyone had a similar experience with these cars?

By the way and jut in case you come across it, the place he bought the car from with its 'certified 3 month warranties on all cars sold' was as follows:

Bromley Car Showroom
210 Bromley Road

Catford

London

SE6 2XA

I'lld hate anyone else to get caught in the same way.

Forget the 3 months warranty the car was covered by SOGA you should have had taken back from where you bought it and they should repair it free of charge or give you your money back.

Presumably you have some sort of reeipt for the Mazda and hopefully you paid by cheque or draft\ credit card which will indicate beyond doubt where you bought the car from.
