Amazing refinement and a real joy to drive.

I have been driving Ford vehicles for over 35 years, and the Mondeo has always been my favourite. Yes, I have tried the "prestige" brands, but I am afraid the latest Mondeo puts paid to that ridiculous premium charged by certain other badges. The latest Mondeo is an amazing blend of refinement, comfort, technology, and value for money.
This Titanium X model exudes quality from all angles. From the superb paintwork (I chose "Guard", more like a Racing Green colour), which suits it perfectly, to the beautifully fitted interior, it has been well thought out.
As soon as you close the door, and hear that reassuring "thud", you become coc***ed in a beautifully quiet environment. The diesel engine is an absolute joy, and inaudible unless pressed very hard. Wind noise is virtually zero, and only on poor roads are you aware of any significant tyre noise. The standard list of features is so exhaustive, I would need a whole page to detail them, so you might wonder what you could possibly add. I did opt for the 10-way electrically adjustable front seats, and the outstanding Sony 12 speaker sound system. The optional seat pack to me is a must. Every possible configuration is possible. I can arrive after a 300 mile journey and feel totally relaxed. No leg or back aches. Performance from the 210ps diesel is amazing; speed increase is effortless, and its all too easy to exceed the National speed limit without realising. Flooring the throttle (well, we all do it if no-one is watching), the car rockets past 100mph and you can tell it still has so much power in reserve. Yet despite the performance, my economy has proved to be very good, even if a little short of the quoted Ford figures. My mix of driving, which is probably 35% urban, and 65% motorway, returns on average 54mpg. I think that is completely acceptable.
It just saddens me that such a great car is overlooked by the badge snobs, and of course, the motoring correspondents with their hidden agendas to knock non-prestige brands. Ford have a superb offering here. Take it from me.
