2.0 180PS Powershift AWD Titanium [X pack]

Amazing difference from the Mk 4.5

I traded in a 2012 plate 163ps 6 speed Titanium X Mondeo for this car, so (AWD and Powershift aside) it was basically the same model, but 4 years younger.

The difference though is incredible. Why ?

Well, much of it is to do with the "toys" my car comes with. Sync 3 for a start with Android Auto connected is just a different beast, Voice control for everything just "works", from Sat Nav to finding one of the songs on the USB stick (and there are thousands of them).

Then there is the adaptive cruise control. And if you're a motorway driver, just don't get a car without this. It feels like the car is driving itself - in a good way. It just makes motorway driving completely stress free. Add to that the "lane keep", alertness control, collision mitigation etc and you're there - not self-driving but as near as you're going to get at this price point.

I'd skip the automatic parking though - it's a bit hit and miss and frankly, you should be able to park yourself ! Rear camera is useful though.

For my first automatic, the change over was a breeze. I've got the paddles should I want to use them, but frankly why bother - the changes are smooth enough, if you do put your foot down at a junction or whatever the car does what you want it to do when you want it done.

MPG - if you drive at 70mph, expect 48+ out of it, which for an auto of this size and AWD is fairly impressive. Re the all wheel drive, you're only going to make this come on if you floor it round corners, but like a lot of the safety kit, you're hopefully not going to need it much of the time.

Motorway driving feels smooth as silk. If you have the Sony stereo, you'll get great sound as well, but with the stereo off, it's still incredibly quiet for a diesel.

It also looks great - it's in Magnetic, my friends etc think it looks much better than the MK4.5, which itself was far from ugly.

Finally - the air bag rear seat belts. Strapping my child into those for the first time felt good.

Overall, with the tech on here, it's a different car. Yes, perhaps less of a "drivers" car than the Mk 4.5, but if you want to be engaging with a car constantly to bend it to your will, you're not a likely candidate for a car of this size. If however you do the miles - and I do 20K / year - then you'll appreciate everything this has to offer...like the old BA advert, it really is the case of "arrive in a better shape".

I'm incredibly happy with it.
