Ford Mondeo III 1.8 LX - Battery replacement - mikem

Hi all,

Looks like the battery is on the way out as the indicator on top is showing red, even after charging it up and checking electrolyte level. The handbook states that only a silver calcium replacement should be used but a quick check for a suitable Silver Calcium battery from Ford comes out at £156! Halfords do Bosch 'Silver' batteries or Halfords branded 'Calcium' batteries, both of which come up when my car details are entered, but then again so do their Lead Acid versions, so I'm not sure how trustworthy the suggestions are.

Does anyone know whether either the Bosch Silver or Halfords Calcium are safe to use and, if so, is there anything I should be aware of when fitting the new one please?

Many thanks.

They certainly are safe to use.
