It sounds pretty hairy over there according to the vairous websites I've had a look at.
Is it really bad ? I'm meant to be driving down to the Forest of Dean from Essex tonight.

My parents in Glos's had their fence blown down today.
However, if you drive downwards from Essex to get to the Forest wind is gonna be the least of you worries.

"Down" is figurative, I suppose across is more accurate !

I am in central London, driving home to central Essex tonight.
It is certainly whistling round the Post Office Tower.
But: I recon I will have the wind mainly behind; not too bad.
Going "down" to Wilts. you'll be going more or less into it.

Wet and very windy in North Wiltshire. One or two trees down causing some minor hold ups.
I believe it's worse towards the south coast, with some traffic dispruption.
