Info required for large family vehicle - Any suggestions?
Can anyone help with suggesting a large vehicle for me, my husband, four children (all in child seats) and enough boot space for a woman with a double pram, a single pram and shopping!

What's your budget stretch to?

...and any other preferences, likes, must-have's etc?

Have you considered the Kia Sedona MPV? Not exactly fashionable, so very good value 2nd hand. Plenty of space and reasonable running costs with the 2.9 diesel. Seem to be plenty running around as mini-cabs, so that must say something for their reliability.

Cheers

Thanks 4 the reply, the most we can stretch 2 is @4k. No preferences as long as it doesn't look too ugly! Just need enough space for all the child seats and prams etc!!

It's only the Transit that will hold six people plus two prams plus shopping and the back row of three can be folded or removed!!

How about a T4 caravelle or transporter.

If you want to fit 4 children, husband, shopping and the double and single buggies at the same time, then £4k is not going to give you much choice. You will be looking at early Galaxys, Sharans or Alhambras with 7 seats - take one out and leave it at home or in the garage, or an elderly Renault Espace. These vehicles will not be that cheap to insure either, and at that age the Espace could prove more expensive than the others to run. I would suggest that you get an early Galaxy without aircon (as they are prone to pack up and cost a fortune to fix).

Do you really mean prams, or folding buggies?
You could get an old 7-seater Volvo estate with folding seats in the boot, put the shopping on the spare seat, and the buggies on the roof rack. Worked well for us. You could get one in very good condition for under £1,000.
