I had the pleasure of seeing the MG X-Power in the flesh on Saturday. One of my friends works for MG Rover and brought in round to show off.
Wow! It's a seriously sexy motor and sounds like the dogs dangly bits! It feels well made and handles excellently.
I know what I'd be driving if I had a spare £73k! 4.6 litres of pure gorgeousness!

Oh dear. I hate to say this, but...
I did have a spare £73k or so. And I know what I'm now driving. And it isn't an MG Rover. And it wouldn't have been even if the X-Power had been available then.
Sorry.

I'm sure it's a nice car, but is it any better than a TVR, Porsche, Mercedes, Holden etc?
That's what most of the other potential purchasers will be asking.

Good point, however "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"...

I expect most people who've got £73k to spent on a motorcar will have already owned a wide variety of vehicles from The Usual Suspects, so I'm sure MG can find a handful of buyers who want something a little different.
I remain to be convinced that they will ever sell any to the general public as for several years now the prototypes have been seen at various motorshows and race meetings rather than hidden under disguises in the Mojave Desert, it makes it look like they are using it as a gloried concept car.

No tease - look at the profile! ;-)

I should add that in the years it took me to save up, I had an absolute whale of a time trying out every possible contender. One example stood out, head and shoulders over the rest, so I bought it. OK, it may have a bit of an image problem left over from the 80s, but the daily drive is a BMW so obviously I'm well used to that.

Seems popular enough as they have sold right out for over a year's production run now - not much else on offer with those kind of brutal looks. For some reason it's a hit with the music industry with a couple of very hip producers and boy band stars getting their names on the list. Not to mention one very celebrated old Midlands rocker amongst the first in the queue.
