... daft thing but here goes anyway ...

If you ask anyone "what does Delboy drive?", many (maybe most) will tell you it's a Robin Reliant. Why is it that way round? People don't say they drive a Mondeo Ford or a Vectra Vauxhall, so why do they say it model first then manufacturer second when it's a Robin made by Reliant?

But then, why do they call it a Robin, because I think it's a Regal, the model before the Robin.

... I know this is well sad and I really should find something better to occupy my mind.

Probably the way they were badged...or not...
They had no badge like other makes, they just said Robin in comic sans style on the right hand side and RELIANT in very small text above.

No actual badge in the middle or logo, just stick on black letters.

I have never ever heard, or read of them being referred to as "Robin Reliants", only "Reliant Robins".
That is until now.

Must confess, I put the Robin first. However, in the tv series I\'m 99% sure it was only ever refered to as a three wheeled van.

Mondeo Ford or a Vectra Vauxhall....

Until a few years ago, manufacturers used to put the model of car on the left and the make on the right of the boot/tailgate/hatch. ie, Cavalier Vauxhall, Escort Ford, etc.

Well you said it ;o)

Apropos of not a lot, other than TV comedy spivs, I still smile at Arthur Daley's description of a Lada he was selling as "art of the state".

Scotty's right - I have seen and heard "Robin Reliant" used frequently and find it just as irksome. Pedants unite.

What about "Model-T Ford"?

Ah yes : but do you remember Alexi Sayle in the young ones trying to trade the boys cruise missile for a Reliant : That's a three wheeler isn't it? said one: Usually.... came the reply: as someone who once had the front subframe separate from the chassis, I know wot he means....

I have to admit its one of those things that gets me annoyed, Yes I know its sad but the number of people who say Robin Reliant is unbelievable.

I recall going to a Jasper Carrott gig many moons ago where he did a very funny 10 minute routine on Reliants.

I've never seen anybody so embarrassed as the Reliant owner who had been at the gig getting into his pride and joy as hundreds of Carrott fans streamed past at the end of the evening. You can imagine the comments.

My brother ran Scimitars for many years and they were good cars but I would not get in a three wheeler if you paid me.

I recall seeing one which had rolled and was lying by the side of the road - its like when you roll a hard boiled egg and the shell crazes..... not recommended.
