Having recently sent off the V5 on a car I sold, it apears you now get a confirmation letter back from DVLC to state you are no longer the registered keeper.

I read in 'car mechanics' that there is a new V5 coming out. Will start being used for normal issue soon, and ISTR being sent out with VED renewals from June.

you must not throw away this letter. it will help prove your innocence if speeding or parking tickets sent to you in eror.
