Marangoni tyres - prelude
Has anyone had any live experience of Marangoni tyres?

They are an Italian tyre - but I have not seen them around other than in a small independent garage.

My attraction is that they seem offer a high treadwear rating of 400 better than the avons I use @320.

I have visited marangoni's web site.
Can anyone help?

They are very good tyres, comparable, in my case with a Goodyear NCT 5 or Pirelli P6000. The Heron s the tyre I used. they also have a performance tyre called the Zeta.>> Has anyone had any live experience of Marangoni tyres?

Had a set fittted to a Peugeot I owned a few years back - seemed fine in all respects.

Forgive the obvious, but...

Are Marangoni's the ones you get on Carlos Fandango alloys?

The tyre dealer told me the company was owned by Pirelli. Could've been fibbing of course.

STS Holburn sell them: they're a chain of garages in the east and south east. Had a set fitted to my 820: seemed to do the job. Sold the car before they all went bald, so I don't know how long they lasted. The tyres and a tracking check seemed to vastly improve the handling: could have just been the tracking though.

Stapleton Tyres (a wholesaler) is advertising them on the side of their vans. Just seen one this afternoon in Leamington Spa. Must be an up and coming brand.

I have a set of the zeta linea's on my 2001 vw jetta wolfsbug and I must say they are excellent. Very stable at high speeds and great traction. But the hard part is finding them, although I say it would be worth it to get some.

I didn't know Marangoni did anything but retreads for HGV's?

Just got a set of Zeta's, 215x40x17 ZR fitted to the wifes A class. Already noticed the sharper turn in and the grip in heavy rain was very impressive. Will know more as the mileage builds up. These replaced a set of Michelin Energy so not an easy task.

Marangoni are fine, fitted hundreds of them over many years to clients cars & never had any issue's. They are a pirelli made under licence so I was informed by my wholesaler.
They also used to wear very well. I would have no hesitation in fitting them

Completely agree with them being excellent tyres. In fact, these are probably the best tyres you could fit. Drift Drivers use these as much as they can, as the sidewall is resilient, and can last 3 times longer than other tyres under that pressure. The ironic thing about drift driving, is that although it appears they don't need grip, they actually need a lot - a lot of responsive grip. If they're coming out of one drift to change direction, they need to change quickly or hit the barriers!!! Not a nice prospect for any drift drivers...!

Oh, and had to clarify this, they're not manufactured under licence by Pirelli or anyone. It's a top Italian product, and I know some people have said finding them is tough - but they're available in Kwik Fit.

Now done 3000 miles on these and am quite impressed apart from the difference in mpg. Switching from 195's to 215's might be the reason, upping from 15" to 17" another or it may be that the Michelin Energy's were just so good. Either way the fuel consumption is definitely 5mpg WORSE. The improvement in grip and handling just about justifies this. Anybody else got any experience of this?
