What used small automatic cars would you recommend?

I'm looking for a used (2017 -2022 ) good fuel economy car for short journeys but also good on motorways please. I need an automatic and have budget of up to £8000.

My thoughts are Toyota Aygo, Kia Picanto or Volkswagen Up.

All of your suggestions would be suitable for your needs, but as you need an automatic we would steer clear of the Volkswagen which has an automated manual gearbox.

Of the two we would choose the Kia, but the Toyota is also an excellent choice.
