Honda Jazz 2012 1.4 CVT - Honda Jazz CVT problems - shahid1973

Hoping someone can help. My wife's Honda Jazz 1.4 2012 model we have been told has some issue with the automatic gear box as it is making a whining noise when the car accelerates. Honda gave us a quote of £1500 to change the bearing and now say they can't do the job. I now have been to a couple of auto transmission specialist who have advised it is cheaper to get a second hand auto gear box and change it over. Any advice or suggestions if this is better than scrapping the car or running it in the ground. One final question if we don't get it fixed what will happen will it eventually break down all of a sudden?

Unfortunately, the auto box on these is one of its weak points . Using a second hand gearbox may be worse than the one you’ve got . Has it had a fluid change ? This can sometimes improve the situation. I would live with it , unless it gets really bad .
