Peugeot 207 - electrical fault - George Goodhead

Can anyone help me. My wife's 207 as just started to have a mind of its own. The wipers and head lights are always on although they are turned off. The heater don't work. Oil light on and it's got a brake fault on the dash. Any ideas thanks in advance.

Check the earth leads where they bolt onto the top of the gearbox.not uncommon for one to snap off as it is too short and under stress.

Defo the above, although you do need to remove the battery and its box to see properly. I've had a few earth cables break here.

Possible "Body Systems Interface" fault.

Global scan with Peugeot Planet diagnostics will confirm or not.

is there any way to check to see if its the body system interface or the underbonnet fuse board. i well confused with the electrical wiring system on this car.

Other than checking connectors to both(even that is a challenge),there is very little that can be done without any diagnostic equipment.

so i will have to change both units then. b*****. thanks for the help.

Get it scanned,

Okay that cost cash but I've seen too many cars littered with new parts trying to "shot gun" diagnose faults.

Try and find a local Pug specialist who has Peugeot Planet diagnostics ore bit the bullet and go the dealer.

You dont have to get them to repair it,

The likes of BBA reman can test and repair BSI's.

See their website.

Google "Planet owners map" to find a local Pug owner with the diagnostics kit.

The 207 does have a design flaw where water can get into the ECU due to poor design.

But it could be also something simple like needing a new battery and BSI reset.

Pop off the plastic cover to reveal the wiring connectors and chances are you will see the plug marked maron will probably have signs of shorting. So well known there are even youtube clips about this problem caused by a capillary effect drawing water in via the washers / wiring.

In the case of my ford focus, 2008, had same simptoms when alternator faild. Somehow dash went completly off after a while but engine was still running even if injectors are electronicaly controled.
Try to charge your battery and siconect the alternator form the sistem (The hot whire wich goes to battery). Dinsconect it on the alternator and if simptoms disapear, you may have the same isue as mine.

Seconded. Check the voltage across the battery with the engine running, it should read about 14.4 volts, much less than that and you have an alternator problem.
