Hey eveone,...
Looking to do a diy repair clutch and flywheel replacement on a ford transit tt9 (mk7) fwd 2.2l tdci duratorq engine van. Have a few tools (trolley jack, engine hoist, breaker bar etc. No post lift or pits though.
I am a relative beginner in diy auto repairs. I have the Haynes repair / workshop service manual for the van as well as the Haynes as Autofix service. I also have the replacement dual mass flywheel and clutch assembly and pressure plate.
Do I stand a good chance of pulling this off in 3 days as as relative beginner who has only ever changed water pump and serpentine belt or as should I just pay ££££ 1k to have it done profesionally?... Read more

Hi, thinking of buying a c4 Picasso 1.6e HDI Airdream VTR 2014 Plate. Does anyone know how often or at how many miles the time belt and pump need to be repaired. Also it is an semi automatic gearbox how often or how many miles does that need servicing. Thank you Read more
I've owned and driven the 63 Reg Picasso with 1.6eHDI with manual gearbox. I actually enjoyed driving the car. I filled Shell V Power Diesel for entire duration of my ownership(crazy) but never had any engine related issue. I had owned up to 115,000 miles. Replaced both front shock absorber, clutch around 80,000. I didn't change the timing belt as I was about to get rid of it before BIG issue arise. I think Eolys fluid needed to top up when I sold.....
Hello,
I had a coolant leak and took it to a mini dealer to check out. was told they were confident that they had found the leak and the gearbox oil cooler needed to be replaced only. agreed to this and within 2 weeks the engine coolant was leaking again. When I opened the bonnet, the coolant was completely gone. took it back to the dealer and now they say the thermostat housing needs to be replaced as it is leaking. they said "We were confident that it was only the gearbox oil cooler and when we pressure tested the system, we did not see any other leaks. If the oil cooler and thermostat housing were leaking at the same time, the pressure would have dropped quite quickly but when we pressure tested the car the initial visit, it did take over 1 hour of constant pressure in the system to identify the gear box oil cooler leaking." At the same time the garage also carried an MOT and the car passed. The explanation I have been given is "It has passed as it has no faults during time of testing as we have filled the coolant in the car prior to the test" Does all of this sound right? Please help I don't have a bottomless bank account. Thank you. Read more
Plastic components subject to the heat of an engine have a lifespan of about ten years.
With a 13 year old car you may find yourself needing an ever bottomless wallet to chase and replace failing components.
According to a German magazine AMS, there is a new online portal for claiming costs under the 10 year guarantee for the PureTech 1.0 and 1.2 engines which was introduced last March.
The portal is apparently reachable under stellantis-support.com . No doubt the guarantee will require that the servicing has been carried out at an approved dealer. At present only for customers in France and Spain but they promise to widen the customer base until the end of Feb. Read more

i have an audi a4 2004 1.8t that i recently bought, the car has a misfire on cylinder 2 so i replaced the coilpack and the problem went away but only when the car is static, asin not moving and engine running it has no misfire but when you put the car under load after 2000rpm cylinder 2 has a dead misfire, no stuttering or hesitation just goes completly dead, i have ruled out that its not the piston rings as it dosnt smoke i would need to do a compresion test to confirm but im pretty confident it isnt that i know its not a stuck valve as its not constant its only under hard acceleration, i have replaced the coil packs and spark plugs also i checked the coil wires that sit above the exhaust as they are known for splitting due to the heat of the exhaust, cylinder 2 had 2 wires that had the outer case breaking away but not damaged the wire to what i could see so i eletrical taped them to see if the problem persists, which it did. is it the wires that are causing me the misfire, is there damage that i cant see thats caused by the heat and the wires actually need repairing Read more
update, i did some investigating today and the earth wires for the coils that bolts the the rocker cover had started to degrade and break away so i cut them back and added new terminals to the end and rebolted them to the cover, now when checking live data the car no longer counts misfires while its stood running although still misfires on high revs but also checking dtc's showed a code for low fuel level confirmed by the fuel light being on, i did notice this when i bought the car (i know) just never really dawned on me that this could cause such a problem to 1 specific cylinder thinking it would throw misfire codes to all cylinders, could this be my cylinder 2 misfire accompanied by the dead coilpacks i replaced at the start i have yet to do a compression test ill get back with the results from that next week, i did check for vacume leaks even though its one specific cylinder better to be safe than sorry right? and also checked for more split wires but no others apart from the earths to the coils
