I have just test driven a Audi Q2 2018 with 15,000 miles. My concern is that I drove it about 4 miles on normal roads then 5miles on the motorway at about 50 mph and then put my foot down several times and there was clouds of what appears to be white condensation coming out of the exhaust is this normal ? I prefer traditional PRNDS type shifter. Advantages of this design are:
1. Tried and tested, everyone knows operating it
2. At a quick glance, you can figure out what mode it is in
Because of fashion, now shifter design taking all forms.
Rotary dial type - you can't quickly glance and figure out which mode it is in
Different buttons for each mode - same problem as above
Steering column shifter - mostly in Mercedes - feels so cheap and fiddly. The American cars have them on steering but those were robust and being it on right in LHD cars makes sense because in emergency passenger can also operate it. But in RHD Mercs having it on RHS makes no sense.
Monostable shifter - like in Fiats and BMWs, again you can't see and figure out which mode it is in. This design allegdely caused few accidents as per internet.
This is another design change which solves a non-existing problem. Read more
The AP box in the Mini, 1100 and I think the Metro had Drive as A at the back of the gate so I believe it went PRN123A.
Just did a last check before looking at an S1, S3, S4, 435i convertible and towbars arent available at least from Witter. Octavia VRS looks an option still but it seems only factory fitted. Anyone any suggestions as need to occasionally tow a small trailer and small 4m boat. 4x4 is useful for slippery launches. Any other advice on towbars appreciated. It seems a lot of sporty cars are no longer homologated? for towbars and there's no towing weight on V5c then you should not fit one even if you can. I don't really want an SUV or Ford Ranger etc. Read more
The problem is often the use of body-kits or central exhausts on sporty versions, they would need a different shape attachment to clear the bodywork and the volumes are too low to justify the investment.

Why is it there is loads of information available showing rod bearing replacement yet at the same time the main bearings are ignored as if they don't exist? I would never ignore the mains without at least taking the accessable caps off for a look.
I do not own a BMW and I can appreciate how much extra work this makes. Is this the reason the mains get ignored?... Read more
Sadly the present teaching profession here seems to have been corrupted by 'wokery' and extreme unions....

Goes with the territory.

C2/C3 is a bit of overkill on a non-dpf engine, if you can find an A3/B4 oil it will be marginally cheaper, as in the handbook.
Hello everyone, i'm a new member and would like to ask for some advice.
My 2016 C4 was recalled to have the cat replaced under warranty. Whilst at the garage i asked if the recently illuminated warning light showing a DPF fault was anything related and was advised that it was not. I went to another independant garage that i've used before and asked them to clear the errors, DPF and sensor, to see iof they returned after the new cat was fitted and they have. The garage also told me that a client of theres who was a motoring journalist had exactly the same problem which was fixed under warranty when he rejected their arugument that the two issues were not related, The garage tells me that the sensor is expensive so i'm reluctant to replace before i'm sure but i find that a car with only 34000 should have this issue. The garage also cleanded the DPF which i omitted to mention.... Read more

All makes are doing it. Tesla makes more money form selling carbon credits than it does from selling cars.
Don't blame the manufacturers, blame the legislators for allowing this to happen....
Condensation of carbon dioxide ? It must be a lot colder than I thought !...
