I replaced the starter before Xmas with a brand new non OE from Europarts. Worked well for about a month, then armature span but starter didn't engage - had to disconnect battery to stop it spinning! This hasn't happened since, but since then motor appeasr to stick. I can hear solenoid clicking, but it suits itself when it wants to engage. Usually rocking while in gear will release and will start OK.
Any suggestions as to cause or solution, or should I get motor replaced ?

After driving for weeks with nothing but cold air coming out I have disovered something that cleans out the heater matrix.
I recently bought some sink unblocker/drain cleaner from B&Q.
I put about a cup full inthe coolant and after acouple of days the air has started to get warmer.
Prior to this event I have tried flushing the whole system, I have used the small bottles of liquid from Car stores that allegedly clean out the system.
One word of advice. Do not buy radflush or anything similar because they don't work.
I would like to know if anyone else has had experience of these problems.
Last year I had a Laguna with exaactly the same problem.
Is it a French thing?

The liquid, as I said, was only in the coolant for a couple of days. After which it was thoroughly flushed with garden hose (raiator and block)
Fresh antifreeze and new water. Still going strong.
On a sour note, the fan has given up on me now. It's just never ending with Xantia heaters isn't it.
This is the second time it has done this now. The first instance I doused the ignition switch with WD40 and it started working again.
More often than not it is the ignition switch (and associated wiring) and not the fan unit that is at fault.

I have a 2000 Citroen Dispatch hdi. Now and again the van goes into Limp mode when you use the turbo for more than 10 secs.
I've checked the pipes leading from the turbo and all seem okay, but what i did find was a item that looks like a VTA Dumpvalve which i know aint standard on these vans.
This piece has oil all over it suggesting that the valve might be stuck open.
Co8uld anyone else suggest something else going by what i have said or could it be the valve that I found.

MoT time and despite getting to the the MoT early yesterday the system failed at about 9:30 and was down all day - when I picked the car up it was a manual MoT Certificate that I was handed.
Seems that the gremlins that dogged the system a year ago are showing up again. Read more
I received my tax disc this morning, after renewing it online on Wednesday afternoon.
Can't complain about that.
When I recently bought a Jazz, the dealer advised that for them to fit Park Distance Control would cost me an extra £400.
Does this sound right to you?

Halfords fit the ones mounted under the number plate iirc.. so it's a simple job.. minimal drilling...

Hi i have a 1996 D Turbo that was recently diagnosed with a faulty diesel injector thus causing it to misfire and smoke alot.
The car has a Bosch Pump/Injectors however on such short notice i could only obtain 4 Lucas Injectors (from another D Turbo)and just installed them.
The Car is quieter and doesn't smoke anymore, however i have noticed that I do not feel the Turbo boost kicking in at 3000rpm like it did previously
My Question is....
Is the lack of Turbo boost due to an incompatibility between the Bosch Pump and Lucas injectors or is it down to something else

The opening pressure of the Lucas Injector is 30 bar lower than the Bosch so the Lucas injector is going to open too early and advance the injection timing. Really you should have had your old injectors cleaned and the opening pressures reset, costs about £60
