Nissan Juke revealed
The Nissan Juke created a new category of small crossover, below the the Qashqai. The car was inspired by the Qazana concept car at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, and will fit into the Nissan range between the Note compact family car and the Qashqai.
The Juke is based on Renault Nissan Alliance B-Platform and has a 2,530mm wheelbase, is 4,135mm long, 1,765mm wide and 1,570mm tall. To allow the top of the range to use 17-inch wheels and 215/55 R17 tyres, the track front and rear is 1,525mm, the widest yet seen on the Alliance B-platform.
In Europe, there will be three engine and manual or CVT transmission choices. At the top of the range is a newly developed 1.6-litre Direct Injection Gasoline turbocharged engine which develops 140kW (190PS) and 240Nm.
The second petrol engine, which also displaces 1.6-litres and has four valves per cylinder, is an extensively reworked HR. Designated HR16DE it has a larger exhaust manifold, a retuned intake manifold, twin VTC, improved intake tumble flow and new catalyst with a hexagon cell formation. New pistons with revised crowns and integral oil jet cooling have been adopted along with low friction techniques such as diamond-like carbon coating on the valve lifters.
The final engine choice is the familiar Alliance developed K9K 1.5-litre 1,461cc eight-valve dCi turbocharged common rail diesel. With power rated at 81kW (110PS) at 4,000 rpm and torque at 240 Nm at 1,750 rpm, this unit features a fuel return rail and control unit for improved fuel efficiency..
The XTRONIC CVT with 6-speed manual mode in the turbocharged petrol-engined Juke has been tuned for a more sporting performance with revised manual modes for sharper acceleration while the management system has been reprogrammed to enhance fuel efficiency. Both CVTs have adaptive shift control systems that can be selected via the Nissan Dynamic Control System.
Range availability is as follows:
- 1.5 dCi 81kW Diesel 2wd 6-speed manual
- 1.6i 86kW Petrol 2wd 5-speed manual
- 1.6i 86kW Petrol 2wd XTRONIC CVT
- 1.6i Turbo 140kW Petrol 2wd 6-speed manual
- 1.6i Turbo 140kW Petrol 4wd XTRONIC CVT M6
The model line-up follows Nissan's established Visia, Acenta and Tekna lines. Lists of standard and optional equipment will be released nearer the on sale date, but expected items such as climate control, leather upholstery, rear view camera and Intelligent Key will all be available to Juke customers along with some more unusual features.

Juke R unveiled
Just two versions of the Nissan Juke-R are being created, one in each of left-hand and right-hand drive. The cars have been developed by Nissan and are being built by leading motorsports outfit RML with input from Nissan Technology Centre for Europe (NTC-E). Testing of the car will begin in November.
At the heart of Nissan Juke-R will be the GT-R's V6 turbo-charged engine that produces an incredible 480bhp. Fitting this into the space usually taken by Juke's 1.6-litre engine is a big challenge for the team. Not only do they have to build the car around the engine but also find space to house all the cooling systems that it needs to perform.
Juke Shiro introduced
Externally, Shiro can be identified by its stylish dark grey 17-inch alloy wheels, the satin silver finish to the door handles and mirror caps plus a gloss black finish to the B-pillar. Although available in any of the colours offered on Juke models, Shiro does have one additional unique hue in its palette: Nightshade, a sophisticated deep aubergine colour.
Shiro builds on the top-of-the-range Tekna grade with prices starting from £17,695. It is available with all three engine choices – a 110PS 1.5-litre dCi; 117PS normally aspirated 1.6-litre petrol; and the range-topping turbocharged direct injection petrol 1.6-litre DIG-T with 190PS. A 4x4 version and CVT automatics are also available.
Juke with Ministry of Sound launched
Can be specified with any engine and transmission in the current Juke range, and is offered with a number of special design and technology features that make it a unique and innovative addition to the line-up.
Mirroring the Ministry of Sound’s famous black and white logo, the limited edition Juke will be available to order in Metallic Black or Solid White. All models come equipped with standard 17-inch white alloy wheels, white door handles and white mirror caps. To further enhance the bold look, the B-pillar is finished in high-gloss black, while a unique Ministry of Sound badge completes the external design package.
Inside, the Juke with Ministry of Sound features a striking white centre console, white door trims and white stitching on the leather seats, steering wheel and gear gaiter. The cabin also features an iPod cradle that gives occupants the perfect set-up for choosing their music on the move.
All Juke with Ministry of Sound buyers will also receive an exclusive Music Pack designed to enhance their enjoyment of the car. The pack includes a white 8GB Apple iPod touch, pre-loaded with Nissan and Ministry of Sound video and photo content, and engraved on the rear with Nissan Juke and Ministry of Sound logos. An innovative self-healing iPod case that features Nissan’s Scratch Shield paint technology is also included.
The Music Pack also contains a pair of Ministry of Sound headphones. Branded with exclusive Juke logos, they feature 50mm speaker drivers and aluminium cups for high quality playback. Completing the pack is an activation code that allows customers exclusive VIP access to the Ministry of Sound music store.
The Juke with Ministry of Sound will cost from £17,895 and will be available with the full range of Juke engines, including a flagship 190PS 1.6-litre turbocharged DIG-T petrol and a 110PS 1.5-litre dCi diesel.
A new feature is a Stop/Start system for the 117PS 1.6-litre petrol engine. Available on all manual transmission Jukes except those in Visia trim, the Stop/Start system costs just £200 extra and reduces CO2 emissions from 139g/km to 136g/km, while fuel consumption in the urban environment – one of the Juke’s natural hunting grounds – is improved by seven per cent, from 36.7mpg to 39.2mpg. Combined economy also jumps from 47.1mpg to 48.7mpg too.
Nissan Juke Nismo launched
Power of the 1.6 DIG-T is up from 190PS to 200PS. Same 250Nm torque. Wheels are up to 18-inch with 225/45 R18 tyres. Power gets to the front wheels via a 6 speed manual transmission, or to all four wheels via a 7 selectable ratio CVT. 4WD version has "torque vectoring"from GT-R. Clingy bucket seats, an Alcantara and leather steering wheel, standard latest generation Nissan ‘Connect 2’ satnav. Works surprisingly well.

Revised Juke 1.5 dCi announced
Now emitting 109g/km. The changes have boosted maximum torque from 240Nm to 260Nm at 1,750rpm, with 80 per cent of this figure available from just 1,500rpm to improve driveability. And with CO2 emissions of only 109g/km and combined fuel economy of 67.3mpg, the new unit is the most efficient engine in the Juke line-up.
Revised Juke revealed
There are new alloy wheels, a new audio system; latest generation NissanConnect driver-vehicle interface, Nissan Safety Shield, Nissan Dynamic Control system, plus the option of a new opening glass roof. On sale throughout Europe from Summer 2014.
Three engines are available for the 2014 Juke, with changes to the two petrol options. The existing and acclaimed 1.5 dCi diesel with 110PS continues unchanged.
The Alliance-developed 1.2-litre DIG-T petrol engine, which replaces the outgoing 117PS 1.6-litre unit, is an advanced turbocharged direct injection engine generating 190Nm of torque.
The existing 1.6 DIG-T petrol unit has been further improved to deliver lower end torque below 2,000rpm. Producing 140kW, it is already Euro6 compliant with target emissions of 139g/km of CO2for the 2WD versions. Among its new features are a higher combustion ratio, improved low friction technologies and cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
As well as a six-speed manual transmission, new Juke 1.6 DIG-T 4WD is optionally available with a new Xtronic transmission gearbox which further improves fuel efficiency, acceleration and all-round performance. The Xtronic replaced the previous CVT transmission that was highly prone to failure.
