• Ford fiesta - Alternator whining 22 Dec 2021 (Forum)
  I sent it back and got a replacement which made the excat same noise. I then got a 2nd hand original Ford one and the whining noise had gone but the 2nd hand one was on its last legs. I then went to Euro Car Parts and purchased a lucas alternator which is now making the same noise as the first ones. Any idea what it could be?

  It says wait for absolutely ages because the incorrect code has been input so many times. We have even taken it to Ford who couldn’t be bothered trying & said it would be best to have a new stereo at a cost of about £700!!!! Anyway, they gave us the code and today I’ve left the radio on thinking that if I left it on long enough, the radio display would change from wait to code.

  Hi All,  I am currently looking for a second hand car. I am currently looking at a Ford Fiesta (2009), Petrol 1.4, 96CV and a Mazda 2 (2008), Petrol 1.5, 103CV.  I need a reliable, small car to drive to and from work daily. Once a year I'd like to be able to drive across France and Spain if possible.

  I am interested in buying an apparently well looked-after 2002 Ford Focus which is currently untaxed (in the UK), so can't test drive extensively. The current owner has replaced the clutch, cam belt and brake shoes. The brakes don't feel very effective - the (private) seller says this may be because the brake shoes are new, or just a "different car, different feel" situation.

  Hi, can somebody give me some technical advice please? I have a 2005 Ford Fiesta, 1242cc, 3-door, petrol. Great car but the radiator fan is not working and the car is overheating especially in traffic jams. There are three electrical plugs. The plug into the fan is okay, the plug that goes into the engine/ECU is okay.

  I’ve got an automatic 2004 Ford Fiesta... been working perfectly until taking it out one day and I got down the road and it was stuck in gear 1, I couldn’t use semi-automatic to get it up a gear, and it wasn’t changing on it’s own.

  I moved on to an Auto Electrical Co, They have pulled fuses as a test  / connected a diagnostic machine and still not found the cause of the parasitic drain. All they say is it may be time to have the car to a Ford Dealership to see if they can find something. Having been online it seems as though Dealerships can run out of ideas as well. Tried spending my way out of the problem, no luck so far.

  Hello All, The bonnet lock on my Ford Focus (Feb 2008 model) has stopped working. The key turns, but the bonnet does not pop open. On researching the problem, I have read that the Focus is prone to this.  I had the air conditioner compressor changed a week ago and this is the first time that I am opening the bonnet after that.

• Fords and Toyotas - which type of automatic? 20 Jul 2017 (Forum)
  From what I know, Volvos, BMWs, Mercedes, Mazdas, JLRs, Kias, Hyundais and most other big cars have TQ autos, and newer Hondas have CVT.  Only the biggest Audis have CVT, otherwise it's DSG throughout the VW Group. Fords and Toyotas seem to vary - so which have TQ autos and which have Powershift and MMI respectively?  And is it only smaller Vauxhalls which have that dreadful Easytronic jerkbox?

  Hi! Recently fixed all the major problems with my ford, Dpf, Additive module, Turbo charger, Controll valve for tubo(overboost situatoion), and EGR circuit low wich was given by Blocked Intercooler by-pass valves. I still have a problem that seems to be coming form nowhere.

  i have a ford focus 1.8tdci 2007 it has recently started to make a droning noise at the  front which is louder than the engine. It is speed related and doesn't really start until about 25 mph, when i dip the clutch the noise continues, i have no  problems with gear changing and no problems with the car generally except for the noise.

• VW Golf or Ford Focus - Buying cheap old small automatic 10 Sep 2016 (Forum)
   £1500 is my very, very top price. I appreciate this is a pretty tall order and you can't get a Ford Focus convertible but everyone else in immediate family happily drive Focuses (Focii?!) so I suppose that'd be the "sensible" option but I will be very appreciative of any comments or thoughts by others.

  Stuck for something to do on a sunny Saturday afternoon, I had a look under the engine of my Ford Focus for oil leaks. I found one or two minor ones which seem like fairly fresh oil, but there's nothing on the floor and the level doesn't appear to have dropped noticeably since the oil was last changed, in February.

  We had exactly the same problem as Midgely posted on 11th April 2016 and the Ford Dealer initially said there was no fault. However, after the dealer fitted a new battery which went flat overnight it was found that a part of the stereo unit which appeared to close down when everything was switched off actually came on again and caused the rapid drain.
• Ford Focus 2007 1.6 - Antifreeze replacement 29 Feb 2016 (Forum)
    My research, such as it was,  leads me to conclude that as long as the antifreeze matches the Ford/ Haynes spec (in this case WSS-M97B44-D) and is the right colour, it doesn't have to be the specific brand recommended by the manufacturer.  Is this correct and could I use, for example,  the Comma Red liquid of the correct spec?
• Ford Ka - Jack Collapse 19 Jan 2016 (Forum)
  While changing the front left wheel on a Ford Ka, the screw jack supplied with the car suddenly collapsed without warning. The screw thread was in good condition, lightly oiled over paint indicating the first use of the jack. The jack foot was vertically below the correct sill jacking point, extension did not exceed 355mm.
