The ever popular Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Fastback found a new owner for £77,280, while an altogether rarer 1963 Studebaker Avanti sold for £19,600 and a fabulously finished 1951 Nash Airflyte Statesman Super moved on for £17,360. -

Alan was overwhelmed by the support from fellow enthusiasts, with classics and their owners arriving from far afield. Among the forty vehicles in attendance were a Rover P4, a brace of Ford Zodiacs, a Chevrolet Corvette, various Morris Minors, an Austin Maxi, an MGB, a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, a Volvo 66 and 244, a MkI Escort, an MG Metro an even a rare Colt Sapporo. To give the pop-up show even more purpose, Alan began a collection on behalf of the British Lung Foundation and – with the help of a Just Giving online page – has so far raised an impressive £800-plus for the charity. -

The MoT Files: MoT Test Results By Year of Registration 6 May 2014 (News)
Of all the cars registered in the 1980s, it’s the Porsche 911 that tops the chart, with 2786 cars tested showing a 73% pass rate. Hot on the heels of the 911 is the Ford Sierra, with a 71% pass rate Porsche does well in the 1990s too, with the 911 once again topping the chart with a 75.8% pass rate. Second, with 67% pass rate is the Mercedes-Benz SLK while the Jaguar XK8 takes third with 63% of cars passing. -

For me, that means the period of time that spans James Hunt and Ayrton Senna in F1, the Triumph Dolomite and Ford Sierra RS Cosworth in touring cars, and Lancia Stratos and Delta Integrale in rallying. And I suspect that there are many thousands of classic car enthusiasts out there who feel the same. That sounds like a huge period of time to cover, we're looking at around a 12-year span, one that's far narrower than the Revival currently enjoys.
