'Drivers can enjoy a Spanish road trip cheaply' 26 Jun 2008 (News)
High prices have been the subject of criticism in the UK in recent months, but costs in Spain are cheaper than Britain, Germany and France. The company added that renting a vehicle is also cheaper, as hiring for three days with 200 miles worth of petrol costs £122 in Spain, compared to £248 in Greece for the same service. -

Motoring rules change between different European countries; for example, in France only one warning triangle is required, whilst in Spain two are needed. In some countries a First Aid kit is required, whilst not in others. Only a single Reflective vest is required for the driver in France although the French Société Prévention Routiére recommend vest are carried for all passengers, as is the legal requirement in Spain. -

SEAT to Build Audi Q3 22 Mar 2011 (News)
SEAT remains the only company in its sector with the capacity to fully design, develop, manufacture and market cars in Spain. A member of the Volkswagen Group, the multinational has its headquarters in Martorell near Barcelona, and exports around 75% of its production to 72 countries. SEAT is the market leader in Spain and in 2010 had a turnover of around five billion euros, with total sales of 339,500 vehicles worldwide. -

Despite the fact I support the new law, I've had seen more near-misses since the law was implemented than before. Incidentally you might remind driving readers coming to Spain from England that unlike the UK where even one warning triangle isn't required by law, here in Spain TWO triangles have to be carried at all times. And so does all the original (not copies) paperwork associated with the vehicle, from driver's licence and insurance certificate to ownership papers. -

Twin Drive Petrol/Electri Hybrid From SEAT 24 Jan 2009 (News)
A radical new SEAT, conceived to run on electric power or a conventional petrol engine, has been unveiled in Spain. The green-minded Leon Twin Drive Ecomotive prototype made its debut at the SEAT Technical Centre in Martorell, near Barcelona. The ultra-low emissions concept was unveiled in front of Spanish Government minister Miguel Sebastián, as well as Catalan and local government representatives. -

The rules vary between different countries: The French only require one warning triangle to be carried, whilst in Spain motorists are required to carry two. Some countries require a First Aid kit and a Fluorescent safety vest. Spain requires a fluorescent vest for every passenger to be carried within the car, not the boot. -

Ford to close Belgian Genk plant 24 Oct 2012 (News)
The plant currently builds Mondeo, Galaxy and S-MAX models, production of which is expected to move to Valencia, Spain during 2014. According to Ford the closure of the plant will address overcapacity resulting from a 20% drop in demand for vehicles in Europe. Moving production of the Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy to Valencia means production of the C-MAX and Grand C-MAX, currently built there, would likely moved to Saarlouis, Germany. -
'Britons' top European driving destination is Germany' 7 Jul 2008 (News)
According to Vauxhall, the UK's top destination for motoring is Germany, followed by France, Norway and Spain. However, drivers may still be at risk of invalidating their car insurance policy when heading abroad. This is because Vauxhall found that 35 per cent of people are uncomfortable travelling on European highways. -
Nissan sales increase over January 12 Feb 2008 (News)
"[The Tilda] has been further supported by its recent launch in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Spain and Portugal will see the launch of Tilda next month," commented the company. This comes as the firm has announced that its new Nissan GT-R, which gives drivers 473 bhp, will be available to UK customers in 2009. -

Race Retro: Fantastic Fiats delight Stoneleigh crowds 22 Feb 2014 (News)
The car currently belongs to Tony Castle-Mille of Middle Barton Garage, who rebuilt and restored the car. The PA2 is now a regular at hill climbs and sprints across the UK and Spain. Other highlights at the Fiat display included three freshly restored 500 Abarths, with a 1964 1600 OT being notable (pictured below). The four-cylinder fiat has 140bhp and is capable of 130mph, although Middle Barton Garage assured us this example has never reached such speeds on the UK’s highways.
