  • Extended Driver Seat Runners for Daewoo 18 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Im back with more space shortages problems. My dad just got a a 2002 Daewoo Nubira SE 1.6L. I am going to be driving it every now and again but due to my freakishly long length I will definatly need to extend the driving seat runners so I can fit in comfortably. Can anybody link me to a website (and ideally, to the exact thing i want).
  • Mercedes E320CDi - losing power 11 Apr 2006 (Forum)
The car is waiting for a diagnotic test, but anyone any ideas? -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?
  • Insurance heart attacks 13 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Currently a named driver in my own car on my mum's policy. All above board, approved by insurance company. I'm now 21 and have been driving for 3 years, so thought about getting a quote for my car. (1998 Citroen Xsara 1.9TD) Tried First Alternative - told them I had no NCD, had no accidents in last 5 years or penalty points, and drive 5000 miles per year, with the car on the driveway in Devon.
  • Drink driving ban 23 Nov 2005 (Forum)
A neighbour?s son has recently been banned for drink-driving. He received the statuary 12 month ban for a first offence, £800 costs and a fine of £800. At the time of the offence his mother was becoming seriously ill and in fact by the time the case came to court and he was banned she had died.
  • Test Drives - liability? 22 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Dealer didn't put the usual trade plates on and car had tax disc. However when I got back I noticed the tax had expired. If I had been stopped by Mr Plod - driving an untaxed car, would I have been liable as I suppose the onus was on me to check this, or would the dealer be liable. It's ok now as I didn't get pulled up but I'd be interested to hear opinions or actual legal position on this.
  • Audi A3 Drive Shaft - Passenger Side 16 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Hello Recently my passenger side drive shaft went (forgive the lack of technical knowledge - it basically came loose and spun round with no drag to the actual wheel). This was replaced with a second hand part by my old man, but low and behold about 3 weeks later the exact same thing happened.
  • Silly little boys with silly little toys 28 May 2005 (Forum)
I have held off asking this question for ages, but cannot help myself. Why do people want to drive modified Clios/Saxos etc? I understand being young and I understand going fast, and I understand wanting to show off in a vain attempt to pull women... I am not that old myself! BUT WHY do they drive around town continually?
  • Insurance - where kept overnight 9 May 2005 (Forum)
My concern is that if I specify on the drive and its damaged/stolen when its parked in the street then the company may not pay up and equally if its pinched off the drive and I've told the insurance company I keep it on the street, they won't pay up either!
  • Computer related questions. Volume 39 22 Jan 2005 (Forum)
A hard drive problem. My PC runs WinXP (SP2 installed) with a 40Mb HDD partitioned as C, D and E drives. It's a Medion and came that way. No problem for a couple of years, but now on bootup, I get an error message to the effect that Drive D needs "checking for consistency" and (unless I override it) it then runs a disc check before declaring all OK.
  • Ford Fiesta Ghia 1.6 '03 Locked Steerin 12 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Additionally when driving normally the car feels like I am driving with a full load in the boot, this sensation lessens at 50 or above. I have checked the tyre pressure. Can someone tell me if this is normal.
  • thought I'd seen it all! 11 Jun 2004 (Forum)
It wouldn't surprise me if she was also one of those parents who claim they have to drive their kids to/from school in the interests of safety!!!!
  • Question for Dan J (Mondeo TDCi auto) 28 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Did they ever sort the mismatch between the TDCi engine and the Durashift gearbox? What is it like to drive in practice? (Thought someone else asked this question recently but can't find it.) Fuel cons'n figs still don't look that good in comparison. Is it worth arranging a test drive or merely a waste of salesman's and my time?
  • Selling privately 18 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I read your online advice on selling privately, in particular the security precautions when taking a potential buyer on a test drive. There are a couple of extra precautions I was thinking about, and I wonder if you, or anyone else, had an opinion. Firstly, displaying a mobile phone in an advert rather than a home phone. Secondly, arranging to meet up somewhere neutral for the test drive, so that potential buyers don't know where you live; I heard a tale recently where someone had his car stolen from his garage the night after someone came round for a test drive.
  • Mondeo Noisy Drive Belt 16 Jan 2004 (Forum)
My mondy 2000 (98) make a noise from FOS when cold. I finally norrows this down to the Aux Drive belt and decided that perhaps it was too tight but of course it has an automatic adjuster so there is no adjustment. the belt looks ok and is no problem in summer. but it's really noisy when cold. someone told me to put oil on it but i decided against as i would probaly end up with it sliping.
  • Quentin Wilson and the car shrink 25 May 2003 (Forum)
I reckon we should clone this psychologist chappie and send his test tube siblings out to train anyone convicted of driving without due care and attention. At their own expense of course. And why isn't this a fundamental part of learning to drive?
  • M6\Lakes stop-over recommendations 25 Mar 2003 (Forum)
In a couple of weeks I'm going to be doing my "routine" Watford-Inverness-Watford trip. Normally we drive the 560 odd miles overnight and SWMBO and I take turns at the wheel, while the girls sleep in the back. However due to a recent op, SWMBO will be unable to drive this time so we thought we would drive during the day and stop overnight somewhere along the M6 around J30-40 to break the journey in half(ish) and make it "part" of the holiday.
  • Mobile Phone Use 24 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Watching 'Traffic Cops' last night and the eagle eyed officer spotted someone driving using their mobile phone. They were not driving badly, carelessly or erraticly but he pulled the man over and said that he was issuing him with a fixed penaltly fine of £30 but not giving him any points.
  • Police prosecution on driver hearsay 14 Jan 2003 (Forum)
It seems that is his word against the other drivers and that there are no other witnesses. For the record he is convinced that he did no dangerous driving as he was taking along his girlfriend (if that clears him!!). He thinks that because he drives an Impreza with a big tail pipe that the people he overtook took exception. Nice to see that the police in north Scotland have nothing better to do!!
  • FIAT Tipo (1988 - 1995) - 91 turbo diesel bad MPG 13 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Hi can anyone help me with regards to the above?? I'm only getting 30 ish mpg no matter how I drive it even though I mainly drive 30 miles to and from work each day on a motorway. generally only drive at about 60 mph. • Old car speed camera flashed 4 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Trouble is, I know this person and am reluctant to pass on their identity unless I really have to. I cannot be sure it was them driving though. Does my responsibility to give details on who was driving end when the car no longer belongs to me? I am tempted to say nothing more than "I sold this car several weeks ago and now drive (reg.no of new car)".
