high tech for traffic wardens 22 Mar 2005 (Forum)
It would appear that traffic wardens in Westminster are to get some high tech help to "improve" things for all concerned. A digital camera. GPS to pin point where the ticket was issued. Some software to check what restrictions apply at the time and the place where the ticket is being issued. If it works it should offer some improvement over the present scene. -
Reduced speed limit. 20 Mar 2003 (Forum)
They did this simply by removing the 40mph signs, and as a result a motorist was caught several times by a speed camera in a short time facing certain disqualification. Aparrently they were not obliged to inform the motoring public or display the new speed limit because under highway leglislation the distance between the lamp posts dictated it was 30mph without any signs. -
Children without seatbelts 13 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Surely the law should be doing something to stop this dangerous action which will cause loss of life in the event of an accident. But they can't do it with a camera while sat on their back sides, or is that being cynical? Ben -
Driving Improvements ? 20 Jan 2002 (Forum)
He tells me that (to him) is is very noticeable that drivers now, generally, are observing speed limits much more that previously and he concludes that this is probably due to the great increase in the numbers of speed cameras etc. Also, he feels that traffic flow in what were, previously, congested locations, is much better than 10 years ago. Just one opinion of course but it does give food for theought -
CD Changer 18 Jan 2002 (Forum)
As an update on the BX I've discovered the reason it doesn't go quickly is the accelarator mounting bracket is bent (common problem apparently) after it's fixed tomorrow I'll see if I can reach a speed camera triggering velocity. Brake pads being changed too, so should stop as well. -
M25 revenue 13 Dec 2001 (Forum)
I was cruising most of the way round at 90/95 and most other vehicles were about that speed/faster. We then entered the speed camera section between Junctions 10 and 17. Everyone slowed to 75ish through this section before speeding up agian after. So, as everyone knows these camres are there and are reacting to them does this mean that the revenue has dropped? -

Speed awarenes course and covid? 13 Jun 2020 (Forum)
Not necessarily relevant to the question but he had a pointed hat and no vehicle or signs and was in a group so I wonder if he could have been "having a go with a local group to show them how to use a camera" If offered a course I would naturally choose that -

Bearing in mind the date, 11/11, if you happen to have missed it at the time BBC4 over the last week showed a three episode documentary featuring video testimony recorded over the last three decades from the survivors of the Great war featuring camera footage and photographs from the time. Its called WW1: The Last Tommies, and is available for about the next 3 weeks on i Player. Almost never do we watch any program from the state broadcaster, but this is one i suggest you catch up on. -

Smaller speed limit signs at motorway roadworks... 19 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I noticed this particularly along the northern section of the M25, where widening is going on. I'm in favour of speed cameras but I'm wondering if the decrease in the size of the initial speed limit signs is a way of catching more speeders, thus raising revenue. What has happened to those big 50 signs, about 8 ft across, with yellow backgrounds?
