  While Beetlemania occurred when someone paid £8,000 for a 58k mile 2002/52 VW Beetle TDI. Yet Monday’s Top Car price of £12,400 for a 56k 02 reg BMW 320dSE Compact looked a bit excessive compared to today’s of £11,300 for a 41k mile 2002/52. At least cars are now coming though in quantity. One fleet alone had 200 in today’s sale.

  £16,550 bought a 55k mile 99T Boxster 2.5; £16,200 took home a 62k mile 98R SL320; £13,450 was enough for a 68k mile 97P SLK 230K; while a 56k mile 02 reg BMW 320dSE Compact made £12,400. Hall Three part exchanges were seeing quite strong money today. An unwarranted mile 87D 205 1.1GL sold for £170, a faded 91J Sierra 2.0 Sapphire sold for £90, a 92J Primera sold for £105, a rusty 65k mile 91J Micra bid to £150, a 109k mile 91H Renault 5 Campus bid to £35, a 119k mile 92K Honda Civic 1.5LS with a rust in the rear arches sold for £650, a 139k mile 94L Mondeo LXTD bid to £135, but choicest of the lot was a pristine, 93L Kingfisher blue metallic Metro Rio Grande with just 16k on the clock which deserved all of the £300 it made.

  Provisionals included £27,500 for a 66k mile 02 reg Mercedes S320CDI, £8,600 for a 9k mile 03 reg VW Bora 180 T-Sport, £6,400 for a 61k mile 2001/51 Rover 75 CDT Classic SE, £3,900 for a 63k mile 2000W Alfa 164 2.5 V6 manual, £6,500 for a 120k mile 2000W BMW 323iSE auto, and just £2,000 for a 90k mile 2000W Citroen Xantia 2.0HDI 110 LX. Masses more ex-fleet, ex-finance and part-exchanged cars at Blackbushe on Wednesday, closely followed by a 150 car Ford ex-rental sale on Thursday, mostly 03s but also a few 52s and 53s.

  Two Top Car Auctions in One Today 22 Dec 2003 (News)
  Top Car at BCA Blackbushe today had a depleted entry. But was flowed by two LEX sales in Hall 2, the second of which was mostly BMWs and Mercedes. So there was plenty of choice, and decent bargains bought. The SL500 in the photo was a 52 reg RHD with 12k miles and sold for £58,200. The 22k mile LHD 02 reg SL55 seen before at the last Top Car sales once again failed to sell, this time to a top bid of £55,500.

  Police Auction Real Crowd Pleaser 13 Dec 2002 (News)
  A pair of 98R Range Rover 4.0V8s made £6,400 for the 162k miler and £6,450 for the 178k miler (the same buyer bought both); a 95k mile 99T Freelander DI 5-door (which had been a disaster on the fleet) sold for £5,625; and a massive 39k 99T Nissan Patrol 2.8 GRTD 5-door in non-white black made a monster £11,200. Other highlights were a ex-Hants 144k mile 99T BMW 325TDS auto Touring, bid to a provisional £3,800 and a metallic blue 109k mile 97R Volvo 960 3.0 Executive auto, sold for £4,650. Cheapies included an ex Bedfordshire 76k mile 2000W Astra 1.6 Envoy, sold for £2,175 and an ex States of Jersey 96k mile 1999 Vectra 2.0 16v, sold for £1,900. 96,000 miles on an island 9 miles by 5?

  ‘January Jump’ Starts Early at BCA Blackbushe 15 Nov 2002 (News)
  The car raced away to sell for £6,600. And just about everything else was the same story. Especially late 5-Series BMWs (seems there’s a real shortage of these). A 34k mile 2001Y 535i V8 auto sold for £19,800; a lovely but 10k mile 2000X 530i Sport auto made £16,600; and would the auctioneer let a 48k mile 2001X 520i 2.2SE sell for £12,700?

  Audi TT for £11,900 at Auction Today 25 Sep 2002 (News)
  The first Peugeot 206 Coup Cabrio I’ve seen at auction: this one a 2,000 mile 2002/51 reg 1.6S automatic with a non-functioning roof, didn’t sell to a bid of £12,550. A 48,000 miles unwarranted 92J but genuine looking BMW 318iS coupe ran to all of £3,750 (not bad for a 10 year old car). And the reserve was all wrong for a 1,500 mile 2001/51 reg FIAT Seicento 1.1S, apparently ‘sold’ for £5,050, which is £100 more than FIAT is advertising new ones for.

  Heavy Metal Sensible Money at Top Car 2 Sep 2002 (News)
  Top bid for a 33,000 mile 95M Bentley Brooklands was a mere £18,000. A LHD 44,000 mile 99T SLK 230K ran out of admirers at £14,400. But BMW 3-Series, whether E46 or the old E36, are the cars to have and still make very strong money at Top Car: £8,400 for a 78,000 mile 99S E36 318iS; £13,500 for a 61,000 mile 99T E36 318i convertible; £14,600 for a 75,000 mile 2000X E46 320D SE Touring; £17,000 for a 40,000 mile 99T E46 328iSE; £17,400 for a 56,000 mile 99V E46 323CI coupe; and £25,400 for an 8,000 mile 2001Y E46 320i 2.2 convertible.

  £11,000 was bid for a 9,000 mile 2000X Mondeo ST24 and £9,900 for a 9,000 mile 2000X Focus 2.0 Ghia. But prestige kit may have fallen back a bit. A 49,000 mile 99T BMW E46 323iSE bid to £15,250 and a 44,000 mile 99T Jaguar S Type 3.0V6 SE auto with leather and woodrim steering wheel ran out of bids at £18,000. It also seemed that the auction attendance was down with plenty of room left in the carpark, so these two will live to bid higher on another day.
