Help! Service interval and petrol choice 26 Apr 2003 (Forum)
The manual says 20K mile service is all that's required, but I only do 6K miles per year, most of it round town (plus an annual drive to the south of France). So my questions are; 1) Should I have anything done now (or at least before my summer trip), and if so what is time rather than mileage dependent? 2) The manual says to use either 95 or 98 RON petrol, so does it matter which (I had a diesel before, so the choice is a bit of a mystery to me)? -
Ford Focus wheel bearing problem 2 Apr 2002 (Forum)
My car is a '99 Focus Estate Ghia 2.0L with 25k on the clock on a V-plate. Following a recent trip across France, I became aware of a noise from one of the rear wheels. Suspecting a wheel bearing fault I thought I would let it develop until I could be sure which side it was coming from. It soon became obvious where the problem was when a metallic grinding noise came the rear offside hub. -
Puncture repair techniques 7 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Previously posted, but it seemed to get lost amongst a log thread...any views please In France punctures are routinely repaired using the 'old' english method of just inserting a single loop of rubber from the outside of the tyre. ( This is at major tyre quick fit establishments as well as small garages). -
A303 - European Superhighway? 30 Oct 2001 (Forum)
If a road carrying this amount of traffic and also part of the Euro Network were in Spain/Portugal/France/Italy then I'm sure they would already have a 3-lane superhighway in state of the art tarmac - funded by the EU of course. In Blighty we have to struggle along a single carriageway more suited to a B-road across Exmoor. -
Range Rover 10 Jun 2001 (Forum)
My parents have just been to France with ssome friends in a brand new Range Rover. While they were there the rear suspension collapsed, leaving them stranded. My folks came home by Eurostar but the people whose car it is decided to wait until it was fixed and drive it home (not sure what the outcome was). -

Citroen C5 2.0 litre diesel HDi - Engine hunting 29 Sep 2012 (Forum)
Apologies for a long entry but I wanted to give as much info as possible. I've had the C5 for 2 years. It's been a good car. In France this year, during a particularly hot spell, the engine suddenly started hunting. One second at walking pace then suddenly a great burst of acceleration then slow again. The engine management light came on on the dash. -
