Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 03 1.5 no power on start for 30 secs & fuel econom 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I have a 1.5 DCi80 (2003) which has just had a second hand engine fitted as the original one broke! The replacement engine is an 05 Clio engine with 38k on its clock. The engine appears to be running fine BUT when I start the car in the morning, it starts no problem but ticks over at 200 or so revs for 30 seconds. Pushing the accelerator makes no difference during this time, it takes 30 secs or so and then appears to come to life and works fine after that. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.6 cooling fan too keen 29 Jan 2010 (Forum)
My 2000X 1.6 Focus Duratec high speed fan runs even in the depths of winter after even a short traffic free journey. It does not have a heated screen and the aircon is not on at the time (I've checked that the electric clutch is disengaged). The problem dates from last summer when I changed the coolant. -
Ford - 03 1.4 Are Ford TDCI's prone to leaky Fuel injecto 27 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Is it a common problem, i.e does every Fusion have or likely to have the same fault or is it a certain run (e.g 2005-2007 ?). Is there anything that can be done to avoid it (i.e using injector cleaners such as redex etc), and how do you know you've got a problem & when to get the job done, like myself many probably have no idea where the injectors are. -
Volvo C70 (2000 - 2005 ) - Which Car? Which engine? 22 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I currently own an '05 Golf 2.0TDI with 77k on the clock, which I intend to give to her to use for her commute, and subsequently run into the ground. This leaves me with a requirement for another car. Ive always wanted a Volvo C70, and now seems the time to get one. Budget is about £3k, which should get me in a nice Y/51 reg example. -
Subaru Impreza III (2008 -) - Do I or don't I?? 19 Jan 2010 (Forum)

FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - 00 1.2 swooshing water noise 19 Jan 2010 (Forum)
after a 600 pound expense i have noticed this last month or so that the swooshing water noise mentioned by a previous poster is happening in my car on the passenger side too - it always seems to be when the car is first starting and then quickly stops after it gets warm. This morning (in freezing conditions) I got my car de-iced and running - half way on my way to work I had noticed that no hot air was coming from the heaters - I could still see my own breath - and the temp indicator started to slowly rise above halfway - so i turned back and dropped it off at my nearest garage. -
Daftest things you've done..or not. 28 Dec 2009 (Forum)
) , went back into house to fetch briefcase and absent mindedly laid car keys/fob thing on kitchen table. Back out to car still running, got in and set off. Fortunately got only a mile or so before realising key thing was still on kitchen table. Returned to house. Had to phone Mrs B to wake her to open front door..... she strangely irritable that morning for some reason.... -
Renault Laguna II (2001 - 2007) - 04 2.2 When is inspection/renewal of glow plugs re 3 Dec 2009 (Forum)
This 2.2DCI SpTr Auto has done 73K mls and will be 6 years old soon. It is used for long journeys, runs as it should - probably because of this and it is well looked after by me with 5w/40 synthetic oil changes at 1/2 the specified "intervals". I would be grateful for advice from a diesel engine expert on when it is necessary to inspect/renew the glow plugs, as this is not specifically mentioned in the service schedules. -
Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - 95 1.8 car wont start, just died whilst driving, 10 Nov 2009 (Forum)

Slow punctures and tyre pressure 30 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Not quite sure how it got there, but I managed to run over what appeared to be a ceramic teacup (I say appeared, because it shattered into about a billion pieces), as a turned into a parking space. My initial response was relief because I was pulling into a supermarket "parent and child" space and the car noticably rode up over the cup before it popped, and I had a blood freezing moment when I wondered if I had somehow managed to not see a rogue small child! -
Man breaks 15 laws in 11 minutes [Duplicate Post] 21 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The 47-year-old initially raced past an unmarked police car in heavy rain at 160 km/h (100mph) before weaving close to other cars and the road's kerb. The serial offender clocked up further offences for speeding, driving on the hard shoulder, running a set of red lights and failing to stop for police. When finally pulled over by St Gallen police, he failed a drugs test. The unnamed driver, who lives near Zurich, faces a lengthy driving ban and a possible jail sentence when he appears before a Swiss court. -
replacement windscreen wiper preferences? 6 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Evening chaps Just about to replace the slightly noisy (I'm guessing worn) wipers on the Camry (144K and still running like clockwork, thanks for asking!) as part of the 'lets get ready for winter' preparations. Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations other than the Bosch ones with a spoiler I tend to go for, either from Halfords or an online supplier. -
Sir Bobby Robson - a motoring related tribute. 22 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I guessed he was heading to Ipswich, so I fired off a letter with directions on how best to avoid the traffic through Stratford, Leytonstone and Wanstead - rat runs or 'back doubles' we used to call them. The letter also contained some advice as to who he should be picking for England. Well, I got the most pleasant letter back by return of post. Yes, he said, he was going to Suffolk that day, and he promised to try one or two of my routes, although he thought they might be a bit too complex to follow. -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 98 1.6 gti starting runing problems please help 12 Sep 2009 (Forum)
started fine and drove 400yards and just cut out and had 2 push home due to no chance of it starting. when you try starting it fires up then cuts outs almost instantly. runs with accelerator fully down but with max rpm 1500. Things tried; Replaced spark plugs Cleaned throttle body and idle control valve Disconnected the ECU overnight Re-connected ECU, car ran for short distance Idle ticked over - very erratic, then stalled when accelerator pressed. -
Nissan Note (2006 - ) - Is it normal to wait so long for a new car? 9 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Nothing in the rules/paperwork stating the car needs to be serviced or MOT'd there in the future. Just looking beyond the sale and future running costs. Steve -
Audi A3 + S3 (2003 - 2008) - 05 2.0 Oil pooling from filler cap 5 Sep 2009 (Forum)
When I got home today I let the car cool down and went to check it again for oil and there was a small bit of oil outside the filler cap again even after I had cleaned it. With the engine running I took out the dip stick and there was smoke coming out - I assume that is normal? If anyone could shed some light or offer advice, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Brendan -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.9 TDI Boot release button on dash not working 19 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Any chance it would be disconnected or something like that? The boot release on the remote still works fine. I like to run these things past the experts before heading back to the garage. Many thanks in advance. -
Insurance disaster 13 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Last year i changed companys . today i was driving my son to work and was stopped by the police and was told that my insurance had run out at midnight,(less than 6 hours ) i told them that i thought my policy had been automaticly renewd at midnight any way the police told me if i renewed the policy at the road side then they would not take my car away but i would be getting 6 points and a fine . i renewed my insurance and had to tell them about the points which added another £400 on to my insurance, i have been driving for years and never once had any dealing with the police i think it was a little excessive as it was a honest mistake (the insurance company deny any liability. -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 99 2.00 Fuel Promblem 6 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Hi new on so here go's I have a Peugeot 406 diesel Est. it was running fine up until 4 weeks ago then it started to cut out when i put my foot down a little on the motoway, i pull over sat for 5 mins then it started again, it slowly got worse over 3 weeks, then one day on my way home from work it just stopped all together, also when it cut a light came on the one for the fuel injection one, so i was told it could be the relay for the glow plugs, i change that, then i put new glow plugs in it, i changed the fuel filter and it still wont start, i,ve now been told it could be the fuel pump in the fuel tank. -
A claim on fleet/hire insurance affect your NCB? 28 May 2009 (Forum)
He does not have his own motor insurance. He made a claim a year ago on the fleet insurance when involved in a hit and run. He is planning to buy a small car privately. Does he have to tell the insurance company about the claim he made on a fleet insurance policy? Will it affect his NCB? He rang up the fleet insurance to ask if it affects his "personal" NCB on his personal insurance, they said it has nothing to do with it and should not affect it.
