  Hi Just bought a Corsa 1.5 TD today Car runs well 1996 43000 Miles took it for a Good test drive no Problems their. brought it home decided as it was near the Red mark on the Gauge might as well fill it up. Due to the Price of Diesel and the thought that it might go up again..

  Still working: brake lights, indicators (including via the hazard switch); reversing light, horn, ventilation fan, interior ceiling light. Engine still starts and runs fine; alarm circuit seems unaffected. Not working: instrument lights, sidelights, headlamps, rear foglamp, front spots. I've checked the handbook, and it doesn't look like there's a fuse failure which would take out this group of things.

  Hi My Almera has a whining noise when the engine is running which increases with engine speed, its there when idling and when Im driving. I just bought the car a week ago. Its not a high pitched whine, more like the noise you get on an electrically powered tube train or something similar.

  Eventually some girls parked a car in its way and the single civilian who seemed to be operating it, engine running constantly to feed the machinery perhaps, closed the shutters. A kingfisher-blue Subaru with big nostrils and stuff then went past like a bat out of hell.

  It's been doing this for about 3 years so I clean the idle control valve and problem resolved for about 5000 miles then returns, clean valve and problem goes away HOWEVER cleaning failed to fix so I replaced Idle control valve and problem seemed resolved however 1 week later problem returned, engine running slighty eratic at low revs but not always also stalling problem not always. I am now suspecting Throttle Position Sensor but cannot find it can anyone give me a detalied description of where it is situated or even better send me a pic.

  My 1.4 106 automatic multi-point injection failed its MOT on emissions - it's used mainly for local journeys. The mechanic said he would clean the Lambda sensor and that I should take it for a high speed run which I did. The next day it passed the emissions test and all was well for a few days until yesterday when it has started to cut out - it just dies a few yards from home but always starts again and idles ok.

  After leaving the car at the roadside for an hour, the car was drivable and appeared to be fine during a very short run and water and oil levels appear to be OK. However, it has driven less than a mile since the smoke until diagnoses. Let me know if any more info required.

  Is Comma a "good quality" brand or is it just bargain basement, and what other brand should I be looking at and where can Iget it in decent sized quantities without breaking the bank ? We are running newer shape Civic and Celica, do a lot of town driving, so gearbox-heavy work so want decent fluid to protect ! I'm based Sutton/Croydon area if anyone knows of an outlet, or willing to buy online if people can point me to a site.

  First dealed said they have replaced Turbo, intercooler and various other parts to do with exhaust manifold (they said this was making the noise after replacing turbo). Second dealer replaced Mass Airflow Meter (becasue thats what the computer told them). After a run on Friday the problem is still there. When we collected the van from the second dealer, they said if the problem persits then they would have to strip the engine and check for piston wear & that this would not be covered by warranty.

  evening folks, ive stripped the rear axle off my 1989 535 sport so i can go about replacing some of the bushes. whilst it's all removed ive took the diff out with thoughts to clean it up and paint it silver to make any future leak spotting easier. whilst ive got it on a bench if i rotate the front prop flange once per full rotation there is a noise, im quite sure it's a metallic noise (being pessimistic here, it could just be air bubbles popping in the oil), my first instinct is to remove the prop flange and check the inner gears for signs of breakage and run a magnet round to see if i can find any lose fragments. my question is does anyone have any idea to a possible cause of the noise? and secondly what is the torque figure for retightening the front prop flange nut?

  i ive a x reg year 2001 vectra 1.8ls,had engine management light on for a few months,finaly got it taken to garage today,faults were knock sensor-replaced-throttle body-cleaned up etc-they said the car was bone dry of oil,they put oil in it etc but said its burning oil??ive smelt this on way home,is this because of running it dry of oil?wat damage could have been done etc?it starts,drives fine sounds alot better than before,they said to check my oil every 200 miles and keep topping up and the sensor in exhaust mite level it self out and the burning of oil might go away.what has my partner done to my car.

  I brought the car for a good price from flea bay... the vibration is not 'Really Bad' but it is a lot worse then anything I have every had before... it is going to used as a run about for the wife to the farm and horses etc........ I have checked all the mounts etc and everything looks tip, top... there are no knocks or bangs, just that the engine is 'rolling' quite aggressively......

  I thought the thermostat at first but on inspection the water pump was weeping so i changed that with the stat which didn't make any difference. i changed the temp switch which is fitted in the top hose. No difference. When the car is on a run its great just takes about 6 miles or so to get up to temp. Any ideas please Year and engine varient inserted into subject line - re-formatted to make easier to read.

  Passenger headrest I took the headrest out whilst transporting some flat-pack furniture and it won't go back in. I've had it back to the dealer and they say that the clip insidethe tube that runs inside the seat is broken and they'll have to replace the whole tubes. He might have called them runners. Does anyone know what the techincal name for this part is? Would it matter if I didn't buy an official renault part?

  Wait 20 mins car restarts first time but misfireing/ black smoke. Check distributer cap has water & corrosion in it , clean wd40 etc . Car runs well for one week ,then turns over not starting even with help of another car. Cap and rotar changed for unipart GDC 492, turning over still not starting !!   Just a query about the mpg really. On the 80 mile trip home the avearge read 42mpg. I know cars have to be run in and what would he expect after that? Any owners or not experince handy here. He drives normal and work and back in week and possibly a day trip at the weekend

  So why the heavy ad. campaign says I? They shrug their shoulders and say nothing other than the campaign will run in to March. But of course they can still sell the very same car to us under a different deal. I point out that will cost £400 more than the ad. states. Surely this is not strictly legal? To be enticed somewhere and told that it does not exist anymore?

  I stupidly crossed the wires recently when jump starting it. The car seemed to start and turn over okay but when I took it out for a run the rev counter, lights, etc all flicked from low to high. I assumed that the alternator rectifier was damaged. I took the car to my local garage to have a second hand alternator fitted, which they did and it solved that problem.

  I know I have to drive one myself but this car seems to split opinion with some mags raving about it and others saying that the engine is ridiculously peaky( and quesion the power output) and is hard work on the motorway. I don't really mind this as don't do too many long hauls. I currently run a koda Fabia VRS though which really kicks you in the back. I do miss working an engine though. Also has Renault managed to sort out its patchy reliability record. I spoken around and it seems you either get a good one or a really terrible one.

  The warranty runs out on my 3 year old car in March. We have had intermitent problems with the electrics: faulty temperature gauge which affects a/c; windows fail, central locking problems etc. The car has been returned to the Main Dealer under warranty and some of these problems appear to have been resolved through replacement of the door wiring looms.
