52 plated Nissan Micra Tempest - Nissan Micra leaks when it rains 31 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Hi Joined here as maybe someone can help Im a non driver but my other half owns and drives a 52 plated Nissan Micra Tempest Of late we have experienced a problem in that when it rains we get a wet floor in the passenger footwell The water seems to come from somewhere behind or under the glove box area (the drips come about where the driving controls would be is they where on that side, is that makes sense) The heavier the rain, the worse the drips Now I have cleaned out the gutters at the side of the door I have managed to use a thin piece of wire to clean these out fully and they seem to run off to the drain behind the wheel ok but still we get the leak I have no idea what else to try and hope someone here can help (mainly in idiots languages as, like said im a non driver, and maybe even with pics) Anyone able to solve this ? -
Ford Mondeo - Which model is the most economical, and reliable? 27 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Hello Pros, I am buying a second hand family runaround for £1000 or under. I only do about 100 or less (more like 50) miles a week running the kids around and popping to the shops, but I will want to do the occasional 4 hour road trip at Christmas etcetera. I would appreciate some advice on which model is the most likely to give me trouble free motoring along with reliability and economy. -
Vauxhall Corsa C 1.2 - Corsa C totally lifeless... What's fried? 20 Oct 2012 (Forum)
I recently ran my Corsa battery flat by leaving the lights on. (It was a new battery although only used for one run after installation.) After finding the battery dead, I managed to find someone with jump leads and after connecting them up, all dash lights came on and the engine turned over, but the car went totally dead again after a couple of seconds. -
Vauxhall Corsa D 1.2i petrol - Petrol smell 19 Oct 2012 (Forum)
No petrol smell at all from engine compartment, even when hot. Incidentally, the car seems to run rich - poorish economy compared with my previous Corsa C (and it should be better, from the figures), oil gets dirty quite quickly compared with Corsa C. Car hasn't had any bumps or jolts or been messed about with. -
Ford Fiesta - 2003 Fiesta Zetec misfire - water in plug chamber 6 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Checked carefully around washer jets with watering can, no leaks, although water does appear to travel from around the wiper pivot and into the engine bay over the exhaust manifold, not sure if a gasket or rubber washer might have gone there - is water supposed to drain around the wiper shaft? No fault code showing but car running badly so about to try new plugs and replacement leads but not sure how trace this water leak. Not convinced its a core plug as it changed sides and there is no loss of coolant, car well maintained etc. -
Hyundai i30 - Getting rid of low profile tyres 5 Oct 2012 (Forum)
The following tyres are specified for other i30 models: 185/65R15 195/65R15 205/55R16 It seems to me that this would improve the ride of the car and - in the long run - save me money on future tyre changes. I'm not very tech savvy on this matter. Could it be done without problems? Would I have to advise my insurers that the car has been modified in this way? -
Ford Fiesta TDCI 05 plate - Fiesta TDCI misfire 28 Sep 2012 (Forum)
Basically this occurs between 1800-3000rpm, usually in the higher gears 4th / 5th etc when running up a slight gradient or into a strong headwind. It's more likely to happen in damp weather. The mechanic I use says that he cannot find any error codes and cannot replicate the fault and until the engine management light comes on to just keep driving the car. -
Renault Twingo - Good Deal 7 Sep 2012 (Forum)
Currently got a 59 Plate Fiat Grande Punto 1.4GP (8v). Trade in has 36K on clock and is running out of MOT and tax at end this month; also due a service. Additionally it has some body work damage ( a few paint chips at front, small dent at rear and most noticeably the passenger side sill is dented in and paint a bit stripped due to a car park catch). -
Mitsubishi Colt, 57-plate 5 dr, CZ2, 1.5 Di-D - Seized gearshift 19 Jul 2012 (Forum)
One part goes down into gearbox so not sure I could have done it myself. Is that reasonable for a 5yr old car and a common problem too? Wondering if they run on razor makers/computer printer lines vis. whole thing cheap brandnew but the parts are almost as much again. Can I avoid it happening again? Think its sealed joints so WD40 no good? -
Ford Mondeo - Is there such thing as a service history CRO? 16 Jul 2012 (Forum)
I have just recently been looking at a 2010 Mondeo 1.8 TDCI that is ex-rental (Enterprise Rent a Car). It already has 53,000 miles on the clock, but after a quick test drive it seems to run exactly as I would expect (as a current mondeo owner). Here's the thing though, it is advertised as CRO only ('computer read-out' apparently), so all they could show me was a list of dates and mileage of supposed service intervals, without actually telling me anything else such as the kind of service or who carried out the service. -
Car damage on private property HELP!! 13 Jun 2012 (Forum)
We own and run a small business centre and need some initial advice regarding who is liable for £600 of damage caused to a Tenant's customer's car last week. The damage occurred when an un-secured entrance gate was blown into the customer's car. -
Rover 400, T reg - Rover water leak 5 Jun 2012 (Forum)
We suspected the head gasket at first, but there's no mayonnaise either under the oil cap, on the dipstick or in the coolant expansion tank, nor any steam apparent from the exhaust. Heater will blow hot air, and temp gauge is steady too. I took the car for a run of a couple of miles this afternoon, and on getting home there was a steady drip of water from under the engine. From underneath I cant identify the source due to the engine undershield, and on top theres just too much gubbins in the way. -
Vauxhall Corsa D - Corsa 1.7CDTI 07 strange warbling type noise? 29 May 2012 (Forum)
It genuinely sounds like a gurgling/warble noise? It would remind you of water going down a plughole in the bath? No leaks anywhere/no car running/starting issues nothing? It does it at idle/under load and sat ticking over? I am 100% sure it sounds to be coming from around the upper bulkhead area behind the steering wheel (strangely where the diesel filter is housed) Any idea's? -
Vauxhall Astra H - Astra Mk5 Water Pump Hose Connector 26 May 2012 (Forum)
After i had cleaned the car i decided to check the levels, i normally do this once every few weeks so was surprised to see my coolant res empty. i topped it up and made a mental note to see if there were any leaks when running. i checked the oil level and managed to flick some on top on the coil pack. i wiped this away but in doing so i gently knocked a small hose on the top of the water pump, which just fell away. i noticed that the plastic hose connector had just sheared away but i had only tapped it. this led me to believe that this was the cause of the leak and had degraded over time. has anyone else had this problem? -
Mercedes 220CDI - Synergy Manchester 20 May 2012 (Forum)
I received an official order form and I now find the company is in Liquidation. According to Insolvency this company is not in Liquidation, it is run by a guy called ABDUAL QUDDAS and he has not made himself bankrupt it is all a SCAM. Insolvency say they cannot do anything. I have told Consumer Direct, they weren't particularly helpful. You cannot speak to Trading Standards as you have to go through Consumer Direct. -
Ford CMAX 1.6 TDCi Titanium 2010 - CMAX CD player 20 Apr 2012 (Forum)
The Sony CD player in my CMAX runs very hot. I first noticed this when I ejected a CD after it had been playing for about half an hour and it was too hot to hold i.e. around 70 deg C. I was concerned because heating CDs to that sort of temperature can't be good for them. -
Ford Focus - Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi 3rd Injector issue?? 11 Apr 2012 (Forum)
Hi, I recently bought a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi (90) 2006 model with 71000 miles. The car was running well for about 7 weeks and i was getting great mileage - about 700 or so from a tank. In the 8th week, i noticed a hissing noise coming from the engine and upon further inspection found it coming from the 3rd injector, I also noticed there was a black film/build up around it. -
MG6 - profile set to rise 28 Jan 2012 (Forum)
MG Motor UK has signed double touring car champion Jason Plato to spearhead its new assault on the British Touring Car Championship. The manufacturer will join the series with two five-door MG6 GT cars run under the auspices of the MG KX Momentum Racing team. The cars will be prepared by Triple Eight Race Engineering, which successfully ran the factory Vauxhall squad for many years. Plato – champion with Vauxhall in 2001 and Chevrolet in 2010 – will be joined by Andy Neate, who last year drove a Team Aon Ford Focus in the BTCC. -
Audi A4 1.9 TDi S-line or Honda Accord 2.2 CDTI? 5 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I prefer the Honda looks wise and the engine is more refined and faster, but I like the badge image and style of the interior in the Audi whilst both have similar running costs. So, which one would you guys choose and why? Joe. -
2002 matiz ez+ - matiz still stalling after 4 garage visits 22 Nov 2011 (Forum)
This is now my last attempt at sorting it before I send it to scrappies. I love my car and apart from this stalling, it runs well, and only 44k on clock.Should I try a new Iac valve as last option?? Diagnostics does not bring up any problem. About to give up..
