d, VW Golf, Ford Focus and Skoda Octavia. She would be more interested in reliability, comfort and ease of driving than performance. What would you recommend?
  • RWM at the NEC 15 Sep 2009 (Forum)
just got back from a day at the NEC in birmingham at the Recycling and waste management exhibition had a good old look at the new innovation in the world of single operation recovery and relocation units (thats bin lorries to those not in the trade) some really wacky plant machinery too. on a true motoring point though saw about 30 police motorcycles driving down the M6 on the way back they werent escorting anything it just seemed strange to see so many all together
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.8 Tracking? 5 Sep 2009 (Forum)
So i went to a kwik fit garage to get my tracking sorted as the car was pulling to the left. They completed this without a hitch but when i was driving it around after it was still pulling to the left. I went back and they stated that the wheel alignment was not the problem then, and it must be something else. I was wondering if anyone else can provide an explanation for the pulling to one side?
  • Citroen C5 II (2008 - ) - C5 gearbox anygood? 17 Aug 2009 (Forum)
After driving Peugeots and Citroens a while back (2005) when I worked in car sales I always noted how bad the gearboxs were, especially the 206, it felt so loose and of poor quality. Anyway I am now in the market for a new car and like the look of the new C5.

  • Buy your new GM car on eBay 10 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I think it's been said before on this forum that places where you can at least sit in the cars, if not drive them, are needed. And while you were there you could negotiate a sensible price. A "showroom" maybe. Staffed by people who know about the product (Stop laughing at the back!). Or is that where it all went wrong?
  • SORN'd car - Insurance question 9 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I know I should really look it up, but I'm in lazy mode, and it may be useful for others, so... Our second car which is SORN'd is parked on our drive, well off the public highway. Its only worth a few hundred quid and we're not intending to use if for quite a while... my insurance renweal has come through and its similar to the value of the car, so it seems daft insuring it...

  • Kids Playing in Cars 6 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Neighbour's 11 year old son seems to use his Mum's Honda CRV as a playground. Jumps in and turns on the stereo, sits in the driving seat making vroom noises etc. Even plays ball games in and out of the car. Returned his strayed football a while ago to see one of his mates standing on the bonnet. I've warned Bromp junior off after finding him in the passenger seat this afternoon.

  • Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 2004 1.4 rubbing noise when accelerating 24 Jun 2009 (Forum)
    My car has just had new front brake pads and discs (73000 miles) fitted, when driving it home it started making a sort of rubbing noise, when accelerating slowly. On the passenger side, sort of in time with the turning of the wheel. Does anyone know what this might be? Thanks {amended year from 20 to 2004 - found via a forum search}

Im just wondering if its 'bedding in' or if it needs to go back. Ive never had a new clutch and ive only done 150 miles with it but I dont want to take it back too quickly cheers

  • Dangerous speeding on the M1/M6. 28 May 2009 (Forum)
Discovered the following video of a crazy chap attaining some crazy speeds on the M1 and M6 motorways. http://tinyurl.com/rdrb8e It is not just the speeds he is driving at, but the way he shows scant regard for other road users with his ducking and diving. What kind of punishment would await him if he were caught? I ask as I have travellend in a car (as a passenger) at close to these speeds and have often wondered what kind of repercussions there would be if the driver was caught.
  • Future Car Colours 19 May 2009 (Forum)
Just returned from Jersey and experienced all the Ford tourist hire cars that drive around the Island . A few years ago almost every car was silver, this time anything but. The new Fiesta and Ka were painted mostly an electric blue and a smaller percentage in black or grey, only a couple of unused factory fresh examples at the port were painted in silver the same amount as bright orange...
  • Funniest Car Action Scenes 18 May 2009 (Forum)

  • Rear tyre wear 3 May 2009 (Forum)
s first MOT at the main dealership, as part of the service they did a check of all of the fluid levels and gave me a report on the tyre tread depth all round. I found it interesting to note that although I have a front wheel drive diesel the rear tyres have worn slightly more than the fronts, I was expecting it to be the other way around, the difference was only 0.5mm, is this a sign of something or just normal running?
