Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 98 1.3 Endura high idle 25 Jun 2009 (Forum)
It's not the TPS I guess because I can set it 0.8 - 0.4 V and it makes no difference. The symptoms are: - when starting and driving cold the idle is fine - on some days the idle is fine - if I drive on a highway with more (throttle) the idle takes some time to settle down (but not over-revving) - it seems that after removing the battery and connecting it again the idle behaves fine for a few days What could it be, the computer? -
Old Granada, fantastic motoring-related video.... 14 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Has anyone seen the Doves' video for the song "Kingdom of Rust"? It's great. It's a brooding young indie type feller-me-lad driving his blue 1980s Granada through some cracking North-West/North scenery. Unashamed angst-ridden Northern schmaltz. I keep changing my mind on where he drives to/from, you can clearly see the sign for M61 Wigan/Preston on one bit, and in another part it looks like the Congleton to Buxton Road, but it could be Saddleworth, or Huddersfield, or Glossop.... anyone got any ideas, or better anyone actually know? -
Best tips for running in a brand new diesel 9 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Hi All I was wondering what is the best way to run in a brand new Kia Rio Diesel. I picked up the car on Monday and am really happy with it. The manual states 'varied driving' but this could mean any number of things. The car dealer said it does not need running in and to just drive it normally. So now I am really confused how to run the car in properly. Current mileage 250 miles. -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.6 PAS problem & battery light on 8 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Hi, About six months ago I was driving and suddenly the power steering went but the following day it was okay. Yesterday, my battery light started flashing on the dashboard and today it stayed on permanently and my power steering has stopped working again, making turning very heavy (I have stopped driving it now). -
Peugeot 206 CC (2000 - 2007) - 02 1.4 Engine intermittantly cuts out 24 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Ive had this car from new1.4 206 LX peugeot and just recently an intermitant fault has developed. When stopping at lights or junctions the engine just cuts out .It may do it a few times on a 10 mile journey or not at all.It dos'nt matter if the engines hot or cold. When it happens it starts straight away after, whether bump start or key.It is not missing at all through the range of driving speeds and the rev counter dos'nt vary.IT never cuts out whilst driving or any loss of power Help! Confused! -

Renault Modus (2004 - ) - 04 1.5dci Clutch Slip? 23 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Was driving SWMBO's Modus yesterday and experienced what I can only think is clutch slip. Car accelerates from stop fine and seems to drive normally, however when in 4th or 5th and applying the accelerator the engine speed seems to rise faster then the speed of the car does for a period. -
Dogs at the wheel 16 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I have noticed many people driving with a little yapper sitting on their lap,(most seem to be elderly retired hat wearing folk) and the dogs paws on the steering wheel, where do these people leave their brain cell. Is this a common occurance or just around Surrey and London I had an encounter, with a lorry driver, who couldn't see his wing mirrors because of said dog, whilst driving on the north circular, and he therefore couldn't see my indicators - he did however see what I thought of him !! -
Brake light switch failures. 1 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Hi, My mate found last night that his Citroen Picasso brake light switch had failed and was driving with no brake ligths at all. He bought a new switch and all is corrected. My question is on my car (Mk 5 golf) I have a bulb failure warning light but would this activate if the brake lights switch failed? -
Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - New Mondeo diesel -- DPF regeneration 2 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Does anyone with one of these, or a related car, have any tips on DPF regen? I know it should do it under "normal" driving conditions, but I've seen a few horror stories from the VAG forums about the PD170 diesel motors having big DPF issues, and going into limp-home mode. Are you supposed to drive it at a constant medium speed for 15-20 mins or so every couple of weeks? -
Ford - How do you stick up a rear view mirror? 25 Dec 2007 (Forum)

Peugeot Partner Combi (2001 - 2004) - Pugeot Partner Combi - Buying a Demonstrator 27 Nov 2007 (Forum)
My parents (early 60s) are after a car and are looking at the following: http://www.waters.co.uk/used_car_Peugeot_Partner_Combi_Estate_14706.htm They are currently driving a 10 year old 806 that they have had for 10 years. Before that it was two 505s. Obviously they are fond of Peugeots. They no longer need all the seats of 806 but still want load space and a high(ish) driving position. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - yr 1998 - Zetec 1.25 CVT Misfire 12 Nov 2007 (Forum)
My wife's 98 Fiesta 1.25 Zetec Auto has a misfire/stutter when driving but the problem doesn't show up when the car is stationary (or on the Ford diagnostic testbed) The car momentarily looses power and then picks up again and drives OK. (until the next time) The car has been recently serviced by Ford and the CVT has been checked and is OK. -

BMW 1 Series E81/E87 (2004 - ) - Squeaky suspension 8 Oct 2007 (Forum)
We have a 2006 BMW 1 series and we have noticed over the last few days that the front suspensions squeak when driving over speed humps. This is not noticeable under normal driving conditions and has not affected the handling of the car. The suspensions are on 'sport' settings thus, lowered and firmer. Is this something to worry about or take back to the dealership and ask them to look into. -
Vauxhall Nova (1983 - 1993) - Using wipers causes misfire 23 Sep 2007 (Forum)
When driving it feels like a misfire, and the engine management light comes on, then the engine restarts and everythings fine, when idling, the engine stops but restarts straight away. I've had a quick look at earths and fuses but can't see anything amiss. -
Volkswagen - 83 Camper van - watercooled, spitting water ! 7 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Have a VW camper that is spitting water from the expansion bottle, it sits and runs lovely, you can drive it sometimes with no problems, other times you drive a couple of miles the temp guage goes to just over the middle and then it start spitting water out of the expansion bottle. I have wired the fan so I can put it on all the time, but it still can do the same thing. any ideas? -
Volvo V70/XC70 (2000 - 2007) - 'Service needed' light on 3 Sep 2007 (Forum)

Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - Suspension 28 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I will not be driving the car anywhere. What is the most likely cause? Rear hight corrector valve failure? It has been temperamental trying to rise to the highest setting recently. Would this be the linkage &/or the rear height corrector valve (the front rises to the correct hight). -
