BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle cleaner than London black cab. Independent analysis shows BMW Group cut car CO2 emissions more than any other manufacturer in 2007. BMW and MINI’s market positions as the number one premium cars within their segments in London were strengthened today with the Mayor of London’s announcement of a new charging structure for entering the capital in a car. -

Government criticised for scrapping plug-in car grant 12 Oct 2018 (News)
The Government is facing criticism from the automotive industry for its decision to scrap the plug-in hybrid car grant. From 9 November, only plug-in cars that can cover 70 miles on electricity will qualify for the grant, effectively ending the Government-funded discount for all plug-in hybrids currently on sale in the UK. Pure electric cars will also get less public money, with the grant cut from £4500 to £3500. -
Don't Get Done For Emissions in Europe 31 May 2019 (News)
As well as speeding tickets from European countries, British drivers are getting hit with fines as high as £7,500 for repeatedly entering emissions zones that their cars do not qualify for. First production Triumph TR5 to go under the hammer 10 Apr 2018 (News)
The engine was overhauled while the fuel injection was set up by Lucas injection specialist ME & JW Pumford at a cost of £1674. Overdrive was also fitted. Since the restoration was completed, the car has been garaged and lightly used. A run of eight old MOTs back to 2010 show that it has covered just 200 miles since being returned to the road, the current MOT running until December 2018 with no advisories recorded. -

Seems that the original purchaser, a Mr Scott, insisted on having it in Riviera Blue metallic as shown in the MG catalogue, despite the car not being available in that colour. He then proceeded to cover just 6,300 miles in nine years after which, when the fuel pump inevitably failed due to stale petrol, he attempted to have a new one fitted under warranty. -

1967 Lotus Elan SE FHC to Feature in H&H Classic Auction 21 May 2014 (News)
The SE, ‘Special Equipment’ model has the desirable standard spec of a close-ratio gearbox, knock-on steel wheels, servoed brakes and a more highly tuned Lotus twin-cam engine. The vendor, who has owned the car twice in its life, first in 1978, and then from 2007 to date, states that much work has been done to keep the car in tip-top condition. Since an extensive refurbishment by marque expert Peter Day in the 1990s, which included fitting a new, galvanised chassis, it has covered just 19,479 miles. -
Renault, Too, Offers Redundancy Insurance 2 Apr 2009 (News)
Renault has now joined Honda and Volvo in offering free Payment Protection Insurance giving reassurance to customers buying new cars and vans across the range in April. The free insurance will cover customer’s payments for the first 12 months of their Renault Finance agreement should they be unable to work through accident, sickness or redundancy. -
Honda Drops Prices to Shift Unsold Stocks 1 Apr 2009 (News)
Honda (UK) has announced a new package of car offers including free payment protection against redundancy, giving consumers greater confidence to purchase new cars. Free payment protection is available on all promoted Civics and CR-Vs purchased on Honda finance from 1 April, and means Honda will cover the monthly car repayments for up to a year, safeguarding customers should they be made redundant for more than three months. -
Nissan Puts Jan VAT Rise Back to April 30 Oct 2009 (News)

BMW M635 CSI goes for record £100,100 at auction 4 Apr 2017 (News)
A 1985 BMW M635 CSI manual sold for £100,100 at auction over the weekend- a new UK auction record for the model. The car went under the hammer at Classic Car Auctions’ (CCA) debut sale at NEC Restoration Show. The highly original, manual gearbox car had covered only 15,300 miles in the hands of just two owners and was subject to a long bidding war between buyers in the room and over the phone. -

Interesting Entry For Barons 27th October Classic Auction 20 Oct 2009 (News)
This benefited from a total restoration by XK Engineering between August 1990 and September 1991 and has covered just 12,800 miles since and has been a Jersey resident for six years. Other Jaguars on offer include a 1990 XJS convertible with a fine Jaguar company history. Originally a Jaguar company car, it was subsequently owned by Rex Marvin, Product Testing Manager for Jaguar.
