• Mazda 323 noises 17 Jul 2006 (Forum)
  I've got a Mazda 323F 1998. I bought it 6 months ago and soon after began to make a 'knocking' noise whenever I was braking and turning at the same time. It seems to happen at each corner but mostly front offside and I can usually feel it through the brake pedal.

  Just bought a Mazda 2 1.4 Capella with Auto Shift transmission. Car great and box seems fine. Just wondered if anybody had found the same as me ie in Auto mode the changedown from 2nd to 1st as you brake (ie stopping at lights) can be felt ever so slightly through the break pedal (ie I'm aware of first being selected by the engine).

  My W reg. MX5 is due for it's first service. One local Mazda dealer advises semi-synthectic oil, the other mineral oil. Comment from Mazda UK: Read the handbook! Is mineral OK in these engines?

  Consumption does not get the final say, but important also. The last 3 still in the game are the following:   Mazda 3 sedan 2.0 petrol, 120HP: +: killer looks, japanese made (my old one has 205000 km without a fault), big boot -: not a lot of space on the back seat (wonder if I could fit a 0 group baby seat there, as it takes a lot of space), trunk opening as bad as on my current Mazda   Skoda Octavia 1.6 TDI, 105 HP: +: a lot of space on back seats, trunk opening can swallow an Airbus inside, excellent fuel consumption -: average/pensioner look, high price here in Croatia (22500€, whereas Mazda comes to 19500 in the similar spec level)   New Suzuki Vitara, 1.6 VVT petrol, 120 HP: +: cool crossover looks, nicely equipped for the price, gives same amount of space in back seats as Mazda, 375L trunk seems as it could just fit both stroller parts, has cam chain -: fit and finish (the door just doesn't want to clap when you gently try to close, completely unimpressed by that), price for diesel version goes sky high (21500€, unacceptable for a smaller car with this fit and finish), 1,6 petrol says 5,3L/100km (53 mpg), tests give 7,5L/100km (37 mpg)   Further to consumption, Mazda has 5,1L/100km (55 mpg) on highway test at 100km/h, and 7,0 (40) at 130 km/h, which is, for a 2.0 petrol, excellent.

  Hi Guys, need pointing in the right direction...... I bought a 2004 Mazda 6 TS2 last week with 48000 on the clock. Test drove it and it was ok but within a week it has started making a sort of rubbing/grinding noise which sounds like it is coming from the offside front wheel.

  My 5 year old Mazda MPV 2.0 diesel has just sailed through its MOT and I'm wondering whether to keep it for a bit longer or buy something else. It's done just shy of 25k (no commuting and very little stop/start driving in heavy traffic), does everything I ask of it and has been extremely reliable and well built (no problems so far & no bits fallen off - touch wood) but I know there have been some reported problems with turbo failures so would now be a good time to look for something else before bigger bills start coming in?

The Honda coolant is not so expensive (about 25 pounds / 5 L), but as the previous owner of Mazda, I have a 5L bottle of high quality genuine Mazda F22 Long Life coolant: "Mazda FL22 coolant comes as a pre-diluted solution with a 55% concentration. It has a freezing point of -43°C and a boiling point of 132°C.

    When my six foot husband is driving (he can sit further forward in the passenger seat), one of the boys has squashed knees in my Peugeot 407SW.  Have to change on 12th March as lease up.  Badly want the sexy red Mazda 6 but only two more inches in rear compared to the Mondeo which has six more inches.  My conscience is pricking!  What shall I do?  The Mazda ticks all boxes equipment wise (TS2 2.2 163 bhp diesel) but the Mondeo will be a fiddle to get just what I want - hate sport seats so will have to be Zetec with extras and it all adds up.
