Mondeo vs Mazda 6 - best car for lanky teenage passengers? - Janpan

I'm trying to narrow down my search for a car to suit my two teenage sons, both over six foot. When my six foot husband is driving (he can sit further forward in the passenger seat), one of the boys has squashed knees in my Peugeot 407SW. Have to change on 12th March as lease up. Badly want the sexy red Mazda 6 but only two more inches in rear compared to the Mondeo which has six more inches. My conscience is pricking! What shall I do? The Mazda ticks all boxes equipment wise (TS2 2.2 163 bhp diesel) but the Mondeo will be a fiddle to get just what I want - hate sport seats so will have to be Zetec with extras and it all adds up. The Skoda Superb would be great but ruled out as there is a six month wait. Help!

Have you looked at Passat ? My Girls , both lanky always complain about leg room, untill I had a passat. The jag X-type was hopeless for rear passengers.

Mazda, not sure about how good the dealer support is, when things go wrong, many postings on here about mazda 6.

Why not try a test drive with your family. That way you will know for sure and you won't have any regrets. For customer service, with our experience Mazda are superb. We have had from new a 3,5 and a 6. All extremely reliable and great customer service from Swindon, Oxford and Aylesbury Mazda dealerships. far better than our previous experiences with Ford,Renault and VW were woeful. BMW were very good as well. Everybody has their own experiences.

Leg room? Skoda Superb (either version, but the Mk1 is now a bargain). You won't better it for under twice its cost price. 659.

Sorry, just seen your last sentence. Used one?

Exactly my buying dilemma three years ago. Son is now 6ft 6. Also wanted big carrying capacity and, of course, at the best price. We were prepared to spend K16 tops. After weeks spent looking, fitting son into back/front seat we finally found the car that ticked our boxes. It took a week to get our head round the idea but, at K11 we were also saving on what we had budgeted.

We've had the Berlingo for nearly four years now: no regrets, hasn't put a foot wrong.

Not on your agenda I imagine, but undeniably a very practical and relatively cheap solution.
