  • Ford Mondeo Estate 06 2litre petrol - Brake light problem 19 May 2013 (Forum)
I first noticed it when towing my boat at night. It's not a towing issue, though, and whilst my wife was driving behind my car the other evening, she wondered why I was flashing my brake lights at her as I pulled away from junctions. I've also noticed it lots of time when driving at night and looking in the rear view mirror at the red reflections in road signs.

  • Ford focus 1.6 tdci studio - Mistake buy with DPF? 4 Mar 2013 (Forum)
We found this car and thought it would be a good buy because of the fuel economy (and i personally find diesels a better drive) but from what i may be reading, this might be a trap. It is an ex-company car so it has been fully serviced by ford dealers but nothing has been mentioned about a DPF replacement. I wanted to ask a couple of questions: 1) Is the ford focus a good buy for my type of driving or would it end up costing me more in the long run?
  • Lexus RX 450h - Official mpg figures 23 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Lexus are claiming 44.8 mpg for the RX450h and I foolishly had expected to achieve a figure of at least 39 mpg.  In practice, with extremely carefull driving, the best I could obtain was 34mpg. Lexus firstly tried to reset the electronics and then replaced the battery, but with no improvement.  They then told me that I was alone in having this problem and it must be caused by my driving style!
  • advice on streetka 7 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Car can be locked manually using driver door. It has also locked me out 3 times! When driving slowly there is a rapid ticking noise coming from the dash area - sounds like a geiger counter. This stops when you build up speed. The car is still within month warranty and going back Monday to have faults fixed - fingers crossed!
  • Peugeot 306 hdi - Lack of power, turbo failure? 8 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Just for further information ive posted a while back about a high pitch whistling noise when driving.  This happens when the revs have stayed constant for a few seconds.  I never actually got to the bottom of this. Also recently the EML came on so I bought  a diagnostic tool for the laptop which showed up an error code for the throttle position sensor.
  • Skoda Yeti 1,2 TSI DSG - Skoda Yeti "skittish" driving behaviour 7 Oct 2012 (Forum)

  • Ford Focus - Rattle on engine stop TDCi 29 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I listened to a friend's 2.0 TDCi and couldn't hear it, but that may be a different setup? From what I've read, it could be the auxillary drive belt tensioner, i.e. unrelated to the clutch/DMF. There also seems to be some 'play' in the drive, so if you put your foot on and off the accelerator esp in first gear it jerks (I realise this is to be expected to an extent but I can feel quite a bit of play).
  • Peugeot 306 LD Diesel - Peugeot 307 wont turnover after little bump 31 Aug 2012 (Forum)
I have a R reg (1997) 306 LD diesel.   Last night, I forgot to put the handbreak on and it rolled down my drive (which is on a slight slope) by about 20 feet and dinged into a pile of paving slabes on the passanger side. Now when I try to start it it wont turn over. Turn the key to the first position and nothing on the dashboard lights up, not a thing.
  • BMW 520 d - diesel injection pump? 1 Aug 2012 (Forum)
2 years ago the diesel injection pump was changed, since when the car has only done around another 4000 miles as we have been away. Now the car is driving very erratically - sometimes very little power, and not pulling smoothly through any gear except first.  The idling speed was all over the place and it frequently stalled on starting up and driving away in first.
  • 1995 toyota celica convertible 2.0GT Auto - Celica Charge and Catalyst lights suddenly on 12 Jul 2012 (Forum)
just took it to be MOT'd - drove perfectly, no warning lights. Went to collect it they said two warning lights had come on when they started it up to drive it into the MOT centre from the car-park. There is the charge (battery symbol) and also "toaster" style symbol (catalyst ??) both on at once. Tried disconnecting/reconnecting the battery to clear ECU but they remain.

  • Any large diesel estate - Ride comfort 24 Jan 2012 (Forum)
I have been running hydropnumatic citroens for the last 25 years or so and have got used to there excellent ride, my last XMs are coming to the end of their lives and I am looking for a suitable secondhand large estate car that has a good ride. My only requirement is that I don't feel the bumps, I don't care about handling I don't drive fast enough. I have recently purchased a Peugeot 406 Hdi estate estate which is very nice to drive but the ride is dreadful in spite of the fact that the car is reviewed as having a good ride.
  • peagot 207/206 or kia picanto - can you identify this car please to solve a crime 27 Sep 2011 (Forum)
please watch the video called cambridge uk thief here http://www.youtube.com/user/chainsore#p/u/3/bIgWtbunTRg then tell me what make and model of car the thief drives, my best guess is its a peagot 206 or 207 due to the headlight shape as seen from the side, when he unlocks his car the lights flash and that helps put a bit of light on his car ( pause video at right moment ) or as he drives up the road just as he turns right ouy of the road again pause video to see colour of his car im guessing its dark green what do you think ?
  • KIA Rio - New Kia Rio 1.1 Diesel - Early Buyer Offer 19 Sep 2011 (Forum)
After all, it's a brand new ultra low emission engine - how will it drive? Will it be slow? Will it be noisy? But they would not budge, even when I suggested extending the offer until deliveries had started. I don't see how anyone can order it unseen and so the discount on the website is effectively unattainable.
  • You tell me! - Another what car thread! 17 Aug 2011 (Forum)
OK.  I'm currently driving an '03 Focus TDCI, lowered and remapped, but after 5 years I'm considering a change and would like something a bit sportier and more responsive to drive BUT also want decent fuel economy (i.e: 40mpg+), a car with enough space to put my bike in or which can take a towbar for a proper bike rack, with a high enough top gear for relaxed motorway cruising.
  • Peugeot 206 1.4 - Screech / howl / whistle 17 Aug 2011 (Forum)
This only lasts a short time and often results in a stall. I wouldn't have mentioned this (thought it was just my driving) but i noticed someone else had mentioned it. Thanks, and hope we can solve the issue.
