What Effect is a £2,000 Scrappage Scheme Likely to Have? 21 Apr 2009 (News)
So I can see the scrappage scheme temporarily boosting the new and nearly new car market like any good marketing incentive. But I don’t actually see it leading to UK motorists in general being any better off. And that £2,000 a car will be another burden the taxpayer has to bear on top of the already crippling debt the government has laid on each and every one of us. -

Low Emission Zone U-turn: victory for logistics and small business Yesterday’s announcement that phase three of London’s Low Emission Zone (LEZ) would be suspended just two days before the controversial emission-reducing scheme’s first birthday has been warmly welcomed by leading industry body the Freight Transport Association (FTA). Phase three of the scheme – which sought to bring smaller commercial vehicles under LEZ regulation – will now face public consultation and is expected to be scrapped due to significant concerns over its cost to industry and small businesses in particular. -
