Renault Scenic - Headlights for France 12 Aug 2004 (Forum)
What's the best way of adjusting the headlights for driving on the continent? My new (last of the old-style) Scenic has twin headlights with no obvious area to cover to remove the kerbside bit of the dipped beam. Previous cars had a moulding in the lens to cover with black tape or a ridged deflecting lens. -
Death or infirmity? 2 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I hope this is not too morbid a subject, but which is it that normally brings one's driving to an end ~ death or infirmity? It's just something that I've begun to think about since I retired. And should I make sure that I live somewhere that has adequate public transport, because at the moment I don't. -- L'escargot by name, but not by nature. -
New Bentley 22 May 2004 (Forum)
Saw my first Continental GT on the road today. I was driving past East Midlands Airport with my foot down in my Impreza Turbo and the Bentley just blasted past me as if i was standing still. That is QUICK. It was a magnificent sight, and sound. I want one very, very badly - now where's that lottery ticket?? -
Vectra driveshaft plate. 18 May 2004 (Forum)
I had my gearbox oil level checked yesterday, and instead of unscrewing the check plug the mechanic (cough) started unscrewing one of the bolts on the plate thats attached to the gearbox where the drive shaft enters. What is this plate for, and what is it attached to? and will it be ok as long as he tightened it back up again? Thanks in advance. -

Seat Inca: Mirror Glass 4 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Someone clipped the drivers side mirror of the Inca van I drive, way before I got it. There were tiny cracks in the glass but with the snow / cold weather / mild weather the cracks have opened up. Can the mirror glass itself be changed or does one need to change the housing as well? -
To coast or not to coast ? 8 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Mrs V is having driving lessons with an instructor and I am taking her out for additional practice as and when we have time. When approaching lights, junctions etc. she tends to put her foot on the clutch and 'coast' to a stop. -

Nice to see a worthwhile penalty. Not. 31 Oct 2003 (Forum)
So, we have a road safety office driving a car with two bald tyres. Whether connected with the accident or not, he then kills a motorcylist and is convicted of DWDC&A. What does he get? £320 fine and six points. Marvellous. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/detail? -

Wobbly Escort 7 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I've just inherited a low mileage 1996 Escort 1.6 LX 16v. Its immaculate but when I took it for a drive the steering was very sensitive and it seemes to wander on the road quite dangerously. The back tyres are well worn but the front are fine. Any ideas? Bushes? tracking? suspension wear (shocks seem fine) Over to you! -
Dashboard fans 27 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Bought my car without the £1200 air conditioning option. As we are driving to France soon, I was considering one of those Halfords dashboard fans. Has anyone got one? They seem quite large and I can imagine they blow around the air quite effectively inside the car. But is it worth blowing around hot air? -

Mystery boxes 16 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Driving along the A14 from Ipswich to Huntingdon, I noticed that there are large steel storage boxes at every major junction. They look like shipping containers (only shorter), are painted blue, and positioned behind large road signs. -
