The 15 year old model we drove felt well built inside with a nice heavy thunk from the doors while all the buttons and controls still worked. There are plenty of 15 year old cars for which you can’t say the same. On the road it’s great fun and feels like a smaller car with good agility in corners while the ride is amazingly forgiving. Compared to the later Octavia vRS it is a little soft in corners but out of all the models here, this was the most fun to drive, which makes it a real bargain as a used car. -

Here are the estimates and prices achieved by the cars we featured in our auction preview: Probably most newsworthy, a 1966 Volvo P1800 Saint’s car (exactly the same as the 1966 P1800 that Irv Gordon of New York took to a record breaking 3,000,000 miles) was estimated at £8,000 - £10,000 with just 60,000 warranted miles. -
1980s Willhire 24 Hour Reunion Race Now On 19 Feb 2014 (News)
The 2-hour race - evocatively running into darkness - will celebrate the 'Production Class' sports and touring cars (plus the later Group N cars) which contested the fabled Willhire 24-Hour Race events from 1980 to 1994. The event has been devised by ex-Willhire driver and HRDC Race Director, Julius Thurgood, in conjunction with the original administrator of the 'Willhire' - the BRSCC. -

Sensible Prices at Top Car Today 8 Mar 2004 (News)
A 21k mile 98R Ferrari 456GT auto (about to be superceded by the 612 Scaglietti) bid to £42,750; a 45k mile 95M Ferrari 355 GTS bid to £34,500; a 24k mile 2000W Lotus Esprit 3.5 V8 bid to £23,000; a RHD 43k mile Porsche 911 996 Carrera S Tiptronic bid to £27,750; a LHD 47k mile 1999S 911 996 Carrera 2 cabrio with hard-top bid to just £24,000; but the 39k mile 02 reg Lexus SC430 in the photo made a bit more than I expected at a top bid of £36,400. Most expensive car of the day was a silver 18k mile 2002/52 reg Jaguar XKR 4.2 convertible with 20” wheels, sold for £45,750 which is a saving of £30,000 on the new price. Next Top Car Auction at Blackbushe will be on Monday 22nd March and, though I’ll be away for the rest of the month it promises to be a lively one with a lot of good quality part-exchanges and de-fleetings feeding through. -
Two Top Car Auctions in One Today 22 Dec 2003 (News)
Top Car at BCA Blackbushe today had a depleted entry. But was flowed by two LEX sales in Hall 2, the second of which was mostly BMWs and Mercedes. So there was plenty of choice, and decent bargains bought. The SL500 in the photo was a 52 reg RHD with 12k miles and sold for £58,200. -
Heavy Metal Sensible Money at Top Car 2 Sep 2002 (News)
At the last Blackbushe Top Car auction, another left-hook 500 mile 02 reg SL500 failed to crack £61,000. Despite being held back to mid-day to attract maximum attention and having an 'HJ' reg this one, in a nicer colour, with 2,000 miles actually sold for £59,500.
